Thinking outside the box in sheet metal

Announcement posted by JWPM - Industrial Strength Marketing 02 Nov 2016

Melbourne Sheet Metal manufacturer - FORM2000

It’s Just a Box, Right?

Boxes are a common form of product in the sheet metal industry; strong and durable they serve a wide variety of purposes.

Cabinets, enclosures, lockers, instrument cases, storage systems…stand-alone, modular, multi-bay, pole-mounted. Square end, or rectangular. With, or without a lid. Lockable, incorporating inspection hatch, ventilation windows, brackets and mounting plates. So many configurations that make up the humble box!

And so many applications, telecommunications equipment, signaling controller, electrical cabinets and enclosures, server racks and data cabinets

-       HVAC building products  - climate, humidity, UV light controllers

Fabricating sheet metal boxes (also known as enclosures) is an everyday job for FORM2000 Sheet Metal a Melbourne sheet metal fabricator supplying a wide range of OEM manufacturers with sheet metal ‘boxes’ of all configurations. It’s no surprise, then, that we know the critical issues in protecting the integrity of your product:

-Security, durability and protection

·    Structural and aesthetic design

    -  Manufacturing ‘buildability’

Clearly indoor or outdoor use will drive choice of material and finish.

Form2000’s sheet metal manufacturing capability allows for the construction of robust enclosures ideal for withstanding the harshest outdoor conditions or the requirements of manufacturers needing an equipment enclosure (for example a vending machine).

Our Product and Process Engineering capability considers design variables influenced by product use, ensuring ‘fit-for-purpose’ - cost, materials selection, durability, and aesthetic considerations, to name a few – along with best process method and machine selection.

We manufacture using a wide range of materials including galvanized steel, stainless steel and aluminium. We also provide high volume powder coating and wet coating to provide further finishing and protection.

Fiber Laser Welding speeds fabrication

FORM2000 – Sheet Metal’s investment in the latest fibre laser welding provides fast, accurate, and highly repeatable fabrication to ensure high quality seams to give the finished product a “one piece” appearance; joins are invisable.

Form in place foam gaskets

In addition, FORM2000’s form-in-place (FIP) foam gasket machine adds an IP66 rated elastomeric foam gasket to sheet metal components, ensuring materials are dust-proof and water tight. The IP (Ingress Protection Marking) rating defines the level of protection afforded for electrical enclosures from dirt, moisture and other foreign matter.

Design aesthetics

Dependent on use, aesthetics may be important.

We have the capability to handle the most complex sheet metal design as a feature of your box production. Our next generation fibre laser cutter offers precision sheet metal laser cutting, delivering unequaled speed, quality and design flexibility – and ensuring high accuracy and uniformity.

At Form2000 Sheet Metal, we work with our customers throughout concept development and design prototyping to ensure optimal manufacturing processing i.e. buildability.

Whether supplying your own drawings, or working with Form2000 through concept design development, we will let you know what works best. Our design and process engineering capability is supported by sophisticated modelling software that simulates production sequencing, enabling selection of the optimal manufacturing method.

We’ll then get the boxes to you, ensuring delivery to schedule, undertaking any pre-preparation or final assembly, packaging and transport. Note: The cat won’t come with it!
