Datto unveils automatic ransomware detection and recovery for small, midsized businesses
Sydney, Australia – November 7, 2016 – Datto, the leading provider of total data protection solutions for businesses around the world, today announced enterprise-class ransomware protection for small and midsized businesses, now available from Datto’s managed service provider (MSP) partners. Built into Datto’s suite of products, ransomware protection and recovery automatically detects and identifies attacks, notifying administrators to immediately rollback to healthy data. The solution shortens downtime, saves money and reduces the impact to businesses, giving companies an effective and reliable alternative to paying hackers’ ransoms.
The FBI predicts ransomware will be a US$1 billion industry within the next year, and Datto’s State of Ransomware Report revealed 91 per cent of MSPs surveyed have seen clients victimised by ransomware. As malware advances in sophistication, the ability to rapidly identify an attack and quickly recover means a business is back up and running in minutes as opposed to days. Datto applied its customers’ successes in rolling data back to pre-malware snapshots and developed a new arsenal against malicious encryption, which is now incorporated into the company’s Backupify, Datto NAS and Datto Drive offerings, as well as ransomware detection within its flagship SIRIS and ALTO appliances. - Datto NAS: Traditionally deployed as a cloud-protected network attached storage (NAS) device, the device now includes NAS Guard, which allows customers to protect the device and other network storage with full image rollbacks under one umbrella.
- Datto Backupify: Subscribers can roll files and data stored in software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications, such as Google Apps and Office 365, back to a known good state of health.
- Datto Drive: Building on the ransomware lessons learned from Datto Backupify, Datto Drive now performs daily backups in the cloud and on customers’ local appliances, protecting both from ransomware.
