Kinsky - The Edge of the Wine-Dark Sea

Sydney’s homegrown roots outfit, Kinsky returns to local jazz and blues club Venue 505 for the much-anticipated celebration of its EP ‘The Edge of the Wine-Dark Sea’ on Saturday, November 19, 8pm.

The Spring live show invites old school roots fans, and young music lovers to join fans, friends and family in a unique celebration of Kinsky’s biggest, warmest, jumping-out-of-the- speakers-sounding record to date, kicked off with a special performance by the 101 Doll Squadron, Studio 101 Dance (Secret Garden Festival, Vivid, The Today Show).

Songwriter/vocalist Ernie Garland and band began working on the tracks in 2015, teaming up once again with legendary Catalan studio engineer Doct’R’n’Ric at the esteemed Volta Studios in Toyko, and placing Terapai Richmond on drums and Winston Stephenson on bass. The first single, ‘I Am The Mountain’ gathered momentum for the EP with its moving, dynamic voice on the power of collective change against corporate agendas and a music video featuring the 101 Doll Squadron.

Kinsky is well known in Australia’s roots scene for its energetic blend of live instruments and world percussion, body-shaking rhythms, soulful harmonies, deep grooves, and powerful social and political commentary. The 9-piece live band has shared the stage with heavyweights such as The Skatalites, Groundation, Balkan Beat Box, The Dubmarine, and Kingfisha to name a few.
