LGBTI JOBS WINS GLOBE COMMUNITY AWARD - ANZ EXCELLENCE IN BUSINESS

LGBTI Jobs has been presented with the ANZ Excellence in Business Award at the recent Globe Community Awards, which recognises businesses demonstrating considerable innovation and impact within the LGBTI community.

Their aim is to assist the LGBTI community and business in a very real and practical way by creating a necessary and effective platform to unite the two, creating a diverse, inclusive and safe workplace. As well as the job board itself, they also provide in-house custom training programs to assist companies with LGBTI integration and awareness.

Since its creation in May 2016, LGBTI Jobs have begun working with a number of partners linked to the LGBTI community, including Maddocks Lawyers, Swinburne University and SMS Management & Technology.

Michelle Sheppard, one of the Co-Founders and a member of the ANZ Diversity Team has been instrumental in bringing about awareness and education within the LGBTI community. During her acceptance speech for the award, Michelle talked about her past and what the award means to the LGBTI community.

“If you said to me three years ago (when I came out, when I was nearly homeless and I couldn’t find a job except manual labour) that I’d be up here, I wouldn’t have believed it. We’ve started a business that helps anybody who’s in the LGBTI Community. This isn’t just for me, this is for the entire community and we are going to make a massive change.”
