Announcement posted by Hair Expo Australia 22 Nov 2016

Hair Expo Australia is proud to announce its continued partnership with the Hair and Beauty Industry Association (HBIA) to supercharge their joint National Live Cutting Competitions in 2017.

Tuesday 22 November 2016, Sydney – Hair Expo Australia is proud to announce its continued partnership with the Hair and Beauty Industry Association (HBIA) to supercharge their joint National Live Cutting Competitions in 2017. This will be Australia’s pinnacle live cutting event.

At their successful inaugural year in 2016, the HBIA & Hair Expo National Live Cutting Competitions were held live on the Hair Expo stages in Melbourne, offering an experience of peer recognition like never before. The unprecedented level of exposure in front of Hair Expo’s audience of thousands added huge extra thrills for the entrants.

The HBIA & Hair Expo National Live Cutting Competitions will return in 2017 and will now be open to an even larger pool of talented hair professionals from across Australia, who will be invited to compete in either of two national heats to be held in NSW and Victoria, culminating in the battle for the national title, to be crowned following the final competition in front of the crowds at Hair Expo Australia.

The first qualifying national heat will take place at Hair Expo Australia’s new event, Hair Expo Pop Up, which will debut alongside Beauty Expo Melbourne, 25-26 March 2017.

The second qualifying national heat will take place in Sydney alongside the Hair Expo Awards judging day and Finalist Announcement Cocktail Party in early May 2017. Hair professionals from anywhere in Australia can enter either of the qualifying national heats.

Winners of the first and second qualifying national heats will then be eligible to compete in the final national competition, to be held at Hair Expo Australia in Sydney from 10-12 June 2017. Category winners will be announced and crowned at Hair Expo Australia, the Festival of Hair.

The HBIA & Hair Expo Australia National Live Cutting Competitions involve a set of cutting style categories for hairdressers to enter with their own models, which are judged in real-time by an expert panel of hair professionals.

Hair Expo Australia Event Director, Julia Erben, said: “The HBIA & Hair Expo National Live Cutting Competitions will be Australia’s most far-reaching live cutting competition event, allowing participants from several states to qualify for a nationwide title. It goes hand-in-hand with Hair Expo Australia’s mission to gather the hair world’s most sparkling talent. It is important to us to shine a spotlight on the very special skill of performing live under pressure. We are very excited to grow this competition in partnership with HBIA for another year, and we anticipate it to be even more exciting and challenging than last year with the addition of the two national heat qualifiers”.

Sandra Campitelli, HBIA CEO, added: “HBIA is delighted to be joining Hair Expo in presenting this wonderful national competition for the hairdressing industry. This event is something we know the industry has been seeking for some time. We will be presenting a range of cutting and pre-done events that will enable the industry to showcase their skills and creativity on a truly national scale, whilst providing a much-needed opportunity for students and apprentices to further enhance their skills and abilities.”

Cutting competition categories are being finalised and will be announced soon, and sponsorship opportunities are available to those who would like to be part of such a creative and inspiring competition. Further information and Conditions of Entry will be available at www.hairexpoaustralia.com shortly.
