Repainting Australia

Announcement posted by InHouse Publishing 14 Dec 2016

White People Are Nomads by Jenny Hunter

White People Are Nomads tells the previously un(der)-recognised history of Australia and many Australians, told through the metaphor of art. Written by Jenny Hunter, the story strips back layers of Australian history to reveal what has been painted over. Personal stories from Indigenous Australians affected by this painting-over are also included. Lastly, White People Are Nomads tells the story of an Australian woman’s perspective viewed through a Western lens.

Jenny has been involved in the education, arts, environment, and community sectors with Indigenous people for thirty years. She has lectured at TAFE in Kununmurra and at Notre Dame University in the Kimberley and now in Fremantle.

In 2011 Jenny established the business sync7, to act as a third space, providing a link between different world views and addressing gaps in knowledge, as well as increasing cultural understanding between western and Indigenous Australians.

White People Are Nomads was launched privately in Perth in November and will be publicly launched in Kununurra in April 2017. The Perth launch, a book launch and creative collective, was held on November 27th at Replants in Fremantle and was attended by 70 invited guests.
