The Revery Participates In Tennis Fundraiser For Youth At Risk

Announcement posted by The Revery 11 Jan 2017

Marketing agency The Revery were fortunate to play in the Whitelion CEO Tennis Tournament at Melbourne Park. The Revery raised $535 for the charity and received the runner-up trophy after 15 knock-out rounds of mixed doubles. Whitelion are a voluntary service that works with youth at risk to help improve their present and future.

Whitelion was founded in 1999 by Mark Watt. Working as a manager at Melbourne’s Youth Detention Centre he became increasingly concerned about young people who were coming back on remand very quickly after leaving detention. He realised that there is a need for post-release services to assist those leaving detention to find a purpose in life away from offending.

This led to the establishment of Whitelion, an organisation that helps young people to find jobs and provide them with positive adult role models. It has merged with the Balga Detached Youth Work Project, Stride Foundation and Open Family Australia over the years in an effort to provide better services and have a greater impact on the lives of young people.

Over the last sixteen years, Whitelion has worked relentlessly to open doors to opportunities, positive relationships and community connections for youth at risk aged between 10 to 25 years. They are working with businesses to get youngsters a job or work experience and facilitate long-term employment placements for them.

Whilst the Whitelion CEO tennis day was the first event for the Revery to participate in, they feel passionately about the cause and intends upping their commitment in 2017.
