Wednesday 11 January 2017, Sydney: Hair Expo Pop Up has landed a selection of top talent for its inaugural show, to be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) alongside Beauty Expo Melbourne in March 2017.

Caterina Di Biase, Kobi Bokshish, Uros Mikic, Joey Scandizzo, and Marie Uva are included in the Hair Expo Pop Up 2017 education line-up and are set to deliver a series of inspiring and informative seminars and workshops for ticket holders.

Kobi Bokshish will lead a three-stage Look ‘n’ Learn seminar where he and a guest team will go from fundamentals to rule-breaking cutting and styling, inspired by what he terms “My Legends” – Sassoon, Sorbie, and Lobetta. The first stage of the Kobi and Co. session will visit the fundamental, classic and absolutely must-know rules of hairdressing that need to be mastered. Expect beautiful, basic styles that you can replicate in the salon. Stage two will see a more creative lesson, where Kobi will push the boundaries using colour, clippers and asymmetrical styling to create on-trend styles that remain salon-friendly. Stage three will be Lobetta-inspired artistic chaos, where Kobi and his team will break all the rules and unleash their collective creativity. “I just want to inspire people more than anything else,” says Kobi. This will be a not-to-be-missed session with something for everyone – from apprentices to advanced stylists looking to create their own collections.

With a focus on styling for male clientele, Uros Mikic, current Schwarzkopf Professional Hair Expo Awards Men’s Hairdresser/Barber of the Year and his team will share their knowledge and skills in a Look’n’Learn seminar that will be sure to impress. “I’m going to be looking at inspirational cutting trends for men, focusing on texture – curly hair and length”, says Uros. “I aim for it to be engaging, powerful, easy to understand, fun, and most importantly to me, salon-friendly – I want this to be easily transferable so that visitors can take what they’ve learnt straight back to the salon.” Ticket holders will also have the opportunity to get hands-on with Uros by attending an intimate 20 person workshop where they can practice on a dolly head, guided by the expert in male hairdressing.

Contouring is the latest buzzword in the hair and beauty world and hairstylist Caterina Di Biase is Australia’s expert in the technique. Caterina knows that the tips and tricks of hair contouring include colouring and cutting to suit each and every face shape, and she intends to share her know-how at her seminar and workshop, Hair Contouring – No Limits. What can hair professionals gain from learning about contouring? “Profitability”, says Caterina. “Reinvigorating your business and adding to it…everyone wants to look more beautiful and contouring is how to do it with hair”.

Those attending Joey Scandizzo and Marie Uva’s joint session, A Day in the Life at Joey Scandizzo and UVA Salons, will venture off-site for a 75-minute seminar at UVA Salon, where they’ll learn how to cut, colour and style in the same way these two star stylists do every day to transform their clients’ hair. “It’ll be a great education opportunity and the show is a good option for local professionals who do not want to travel interstate – so get out and get amongst it!” says Scandizzo of the event.

Hair Expo Pop Up has been created following the marked success of Hair Expo Australia’s move to Melbourne in 2016. After careful consideration, and taking into account visitor and exhibitor feedback, event organisers made the decision to alternate Hair Expo Australia annually between Melbourne and Sydney. Hair Expo’s return to Sydney in June 2017 will be at its much-anticipated new location, the International Convention Centre (ICC), Darling Harbour; and in June 2018, the show will return to the MCEC in Melbourne. Hair Expo Pop Up will service the location variance of the main show by appearing in Melbourne in 2017 and Sydney in 2018. Victorian and NSW-based hair professionals will never need to go without their local ‘fix’ of everything hair.

With the look and feel of a pop-up store, Hair Expo Pop Up is designed to exude Hair Expo Australia’s fun and flair, with many of the creative demonstrations and events that make Hair Expo the must-attend event for hair professionals.

The event will host part one of the HBIA & Hair Expo National Live Cutting Competitions’ qualifying heats, where talented hair professionals from around Australia will be invited to showcase their skills in front of the judges in real-time. Following a second qualifying heat in Sydney, the finalists will battle it out for the national title in front of the crowds at Hair Expo Australia in June 2017.
