For immediate release:

Home care recipients to benefit from introduction of Consumer Directed Care (CDC)

Home care recipients will have more choices, options and control including the ability to change providers with the introduction of Consumer Directed Care (CDC) on the 27th of February, 2017.

Private home care providers such as Envigor Private Home Care are embracing this new initiative as Government-issued care packages will now be allocated to the client, and the client can then choose their provider with no restrictions.

“Prior to CDC, packages and funding were allocated to a provider and the provider decided who they would service, and for how long," explains Envigor Private Home Care's Executive Manager, Tracey Silvester.

"From the 1
st of July 2015, providers were required to account for each package separately, and provide financial statements to the consumers about how the package funds were being spent.”

Clients who are entitled to Government benefits are also now aware of the amount that has been allocated to them in their care package.

This is a game-changer, as the CDC will give clients more decision-making power and a louder voice to decide what types of care and services they can access, and how they are delivered.

Envigor Private Home Care caps its administration fees for Home Care packages at 10 per cent, whereas some other providers charge their clients up to 50 per cent for administration, leaving very little for actual hours of care for their clients.

Envigor home care clients can choose to spend this extra funding on services such as personal care, meal preparation, shopping assistance and transportation to appointments.

This has allowed Envigor Private Home Care to be well-placed in the market to provide an alternative to not-for-profit home care providers.

“We understand what value for money looks like and we are committed to clients having an excellent experience every time we provide a service to them," says Ms Silvester.

"Other providers say they do this, we actually do."

"We are also highly-flexible, nothing is too much trouble and we offer appointment-based services; if a client wants a service at 8am, then we provide it at 8am.”

Envigor Private Home Care has been an approved provider in Australia since 2013, meaning it can provide home care services to both private clients as well as those entitled to Government-funded care packages.
