New Intuit Research Shows Organisation is Key

·         Generation Y is leading the way when it comes to being a self-employed woman

·         Only one in five self-employed women are managing their business finances successfully1

·         Over 50 per cent of respondents are married with children. They want to be their own boss to better manage their work life balance1

·         Accessing finances and managing business finances are the biggest issues1

SYDNEY, 8 March 2017: New research1 by Intuit Australia, released on International Women’s Day, reveals the wants and needs of Aussie self-employed women, with the majority (73%) saying being organised is not only the key to success, but also important in order to run their business efficiently.

However, only one in five believe they are very successful1 in managing their business finances. The research also found that women said an improved office space and less clutter were twoof the most important factors1 needed to better organise their day-to-day work life.

Armed with these findings, Shaynna Blaze interior designer and TV personality is on a mission to help Australia’s self-employed get more organised. Fronting the “Organise-Nation” campaign, she said: “Australia’s self-employed are at the heart of this nation. They keep us fit, make our homes beautiful, and even care for our kids. They spend hours organising us but don’t take time out for themselves.

“I run my own business and know how hard it can be to juggle all the demands from finances, to sick kids, to making time to catch up with friends. There are, however, things the self-employed can do to make life easier.

“The biggest tip I can give is that less is more. Having a cluttered office isn’t going to help you focus so make sure you keep it clean and tidy.”

The same research also highlighted 80 per cent of respondents are using mobile phones to run their business, and many wanted easier-to-use technology and apps to help manage their venture1

Said Nicolette Maury, Country Manager and Vice President of Intuit Australia: “We celebrate the positive impact female entrepreneurs have in organising the nation and helping build a prosperous economy. However, our research shows many need a helping hand when it comes to managing their business finances so they can achieve a better work life balance.

“It’s vital for the self-employed to build a strong financial foundation to help set themselves up for long term success.

“Intuit helps the self-employed succeed with an easy-to-use innovative mobile app – QuickBooks Self-Employed. The app is an easy way for customers to stay in control of their business finances and help them prepare for tax time while on the go,” she said.

Ms Maury added that the self-employed use their time to make money and so they want a simple platform to track income and expenses, without the hassle of time-consuming data entry. QuickBooks Self-Employed does just that and so much more, even enabling customers to untangle business and personal expenses, a key pain point for the self-employed.
