Certus Appoints IBM Smarter Commerce expert & former Sterling Commerce MD Michael Vulcan as Victorian State Manager

Announcement posted by Sphere Public Relations 15 Mar 2017

Certus Solutions, the leading IBM systems integrator in Australia and New Zealand, today announced that it has appointed IBM Smarter Commerce expert Michael Vulcan as Victorian State Manager.

Michael has extensive experience in government, banking and finance, retail, manufacturing, distribution and logistics, as well as integration, supply chain and e-commerce solutions.

Michael’s role will be to provide sales leadership for Certus with specific responsibility for development and ownership of the sales plan and budget for Victoria, developing and maximising the partnership with IBM and driving cross capability sales.

Prior to being appointed to lead the Certus sales team in Melbourne, Michael spent seven years with IBM Commerce Group as Unit Executive Business Integration Solutions, Asia Pacific.  He has a solid history of leading, managing and incentivising cross functional teams to success through the entire sales life cycle – from gathering product and market requirements, through marketing and business development to solution delivery.

Before joining IBM, Michael held two senior roles at Sterling Commerce for twelve years, where he was the Managing Director for nine years and also the Sales Director for Australia and New Zealand for three, before IBM acquired the company from AT&T in 2010.

“I’m excited to be joining Certus at such an exciting phase in the company’s development and bring to the role a 20 year history of meeting and exceeding targets by delivering software and service solutions in both on-premise and as a service based business models,” said Michael Vulcan.

Outside of work Michael loves to spend time at his house in Lake Eildon, which is around 140kms out of Melbourne with his wife and three boys.

“We are thrilled to have appointed Michael to the role of Victorian State Manager. Appointing someone with such a wealth of experience within IBM and the IT industry as a whole is a real coup for Certus. We really look forward to working with Michael,” said Brian Allen, CEO, Certus Solutions.
