RAD announces new dual E1 router

Announcement posted by Paclink 12 Feb 2002

Paclink has announced the release of RAD Data Communications FCD-IPD TM dual E1 router creates an IP ring on top of the SDH network for cost -effective central management of ADMs and other SDH equipment.

Rather than dropping one 64 kbps timeslot at each node, the FCD-IPD uses the full E1 bandwith as a shared IP trunk, enabling downloads/uploads of relevant information to/from the LAN on the SDH node. It returns the full E1 bandwith to the SDH ring.

By creating a shared IP trunk, the FCD-IPD provides management for SDH networks with up to 100 nodes, eliminating the 30-node limitation imposed by other out-of-band management solutions, which drop-and-insert one or more of the 30 timeslots of the E1 line at each node in the network. It also eliminates the need to deploy an expensive channelised router at the central site.

FCD-IPD can also be deployed in corporate or utility chain or ring applications, acting as a dual E1 router and enabling a shared LAN connection between all connected nodes

Available from Paclink the FCD-IPD ranges from AUD$450,000.
