- Electronic Community of Interest (eCOI) to leverage combined experience of TVP team and its broader network -
Technology Venture Partners Pty Limited (TVP), one of Australia's leading venture capital managers specialising in the IT&C sector, today launched the first phase of its Electronic Community of Interest (eCOI), a best practice knowledge centre for TVP investees. eCOI will guide TVP investees through the critical business issues facing developing companies. The launch follows the annual TVP CEO and CFO forums held last week in Sydney. Both eCOI and the forums are indicative of TVP's commitment to its investees.
Key topics covered over the course of the forums ranged from managing the downturn from both a financial and human resources perspective to the planning and preparation for mergers, acquisitions and exits. These discussions also provided an ideal opportunity for TVP and its investees to brainstorm more ideas for content to augment the value of eCOI. Investees have been provided with log-ins and were able to trial the site prior to the forums.
Sharing information and insight is key to TVP's operations, and eCOI formalises the communications and services already provided by TVP to its investees. This knowledge sharing system will be regularly updated, leveraging the collective input of the TVP team and its broader network of partner companies.

The process of deciding what content to put on the site was assisted by a survey that TVP issued to its investees last year. Responses gathered gave TVP a clear picture of how it could best add value to its investee portfolio and its collective concerns.
The site offers a best practice library covering sectors such as finance, law, R&D, HR, general management, strategy and US expansion. To further assist its investees, TVP is gathering a range of case studies to detail real-life experiences of organisations in its network.
TVP is able to plug its investees into its network of associates through the service provider section of the site. TVP has gathered an extensive listing of relevant service providers from investment banks, web developers to marketers and recruiters. TVP sees value in providing its investees with qualified and classified information to help them develop their business.
Another component of the site provides a recruitment network, with TVP often acting as the conduit for individuals seeking employment with its investees. TVP has for some time utilised its connections to source and evaluate candidates across diverse disciplines for openings with investee companies. eCOI will now allow TVP to formalise and extend this service.
According to TVP investment executive Chris Bennett, who took a key role in the development of eCOI, the goal of the site is to give members immediate access to aggregated information that is wholly relevant to their organisations.
Reflecting on eCOI and last week's forums, TVP executive director John Murray said, "There is a lot of value in bringing our investment companies together to workshop common ideas and challenges. Each company works very hard every day delivering results and it's great to give them the chance to access insights from their peers within the portfolio."
