Nortels Multimedia Communication Server (MCS) 5100 enterprise solution received the VoIP Applications award from Miercom, a network product test center, in the Most Effective Multimedia for Advanced Applications Packages category at VoiceCon 2005, held August 29-September 1 in San Diego.
The strength of the industry is reflected in the VoIP Applications award winners, said Ed Mier, founder of Miercom. Nortel MCS 5100 won the award based on its RIM* BlackBerry* client support, dual-protocol IP phone, expanded Web collaboration, and integration of MCS features with the Microsoft* Outlook* client. Nortel MCS 5100 delivers voice, call management, desktop video calling, collaboration tools and personalization services to a distributed workforce. It offers enhanced video capabilities with multi-point video conferencing, Instant Messaging, and Web application collaboration that allow applications and documents to be shared in real time.
At SpeechTEK 2005 in New York City, held August 1-4, Nortel and PG&E won Best Advanced Speech Recognition Deployment and Best Text-to-Speech awards for PG&Es deployment of Nortels Multimedia Processing Server. This solution has allowed PG&E to increase contact center efficiency by 15 percent by enabling customers to start, stop and transfer service using automated speech technology to capture billing addresses. The Best Advanced Speech Recognition Deployment award recognized the top three advanced speech recognition deployments in the last 12 months in enterprise or carrier environments. The Best Textto-Speech award recognized the top three text-to-speech deployments from the last 12 months.
Also at SpeechTEK, CN won the 2005 Most Innovative Solutions award for deploying innovative speech applications that are driving growth in the speech industry. The company turned to Nortel for its Interactive Voice Response solution for speech applications, seeking to realize cost savings in call center operations, lower equipment costs, and save time in the field with streamlined communication.
