SLR Strengthens Engineering Capability

Announcement posted by SLR Consulting Australia Pty Ltd 12 May 2017

Leading environmental and advisory consultancy SLR has this week announced the appointment of Trent Collins as Principal Consultant in the firm’s Mine Waste Engineering team.  Trent has over sixteen years’ experience in the geotechnical industry with a focus on Mine Waste, Tailings Dams and Earthworks Construction.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) and a Bachelor of Science (Geology), Trent has spent much of his career in Africa and South America where he acted as project Director and Principal Engineer for the Planning, Design and Operational Direction and Auditing of the Tailings Storage Regime at several mine sites.

SLR has developed a heap leach and tailings facility design team that has set itself apart as leaders in the field by delivering world class engineering solutions. The SLR team of experts deliver mitigation measures through an understanding of the sustainability challenges associated with all phases of a mine development.

Regarding his move to SLR, Trent commented: "I'm really looking forward to the opportunity to work with both the local and international teams to provide our clients with full life cycle support from initial feasibility through planning and into construction, operation, decommissioning and aftercare.”

SLR’s APAC Engineering Operations Manager, John Postlethwaite commented “We are pleased to welcome Trent to our expanding Engineering team. Trent’s extensive local and international expertise together with his proven leadership qualities will enable the team to continue to provide innovative, practical, cost effective and technically excellent projects.”

Trent’s appointment at SLR follows the announcement of the company’s appointment of Peter Cupitt and Paul Delaney to expand the firm’s Civil and Structural Engineering team in the region.
