From the battlefield to the Athletic field – Sage continues its global commitment to the Invictus Games to support the heroes that serve their countries
Sydney, 8th June 2017 – Sage, a global market leader in cloud accounting software, today announced that it will be a Premier Partner of the upcoming Invictus Games Sydney 2018.
This announcement is part of a multi-year partnership with the Invictus Games Foundation. Sage originally supported the Invictus Games Orlando 2016 and the UK’s biggest tech company will come on board again as Premier Partner for the Invictus Games Toronto 2017.
The Invictus Games is an international sporting event for wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women, which were established by Prince Harry in 2014. The inaugural Invictus Games were held in London and attended by over 400 competitors from 13 nations. The Toronto Games will host more than 550 competitors from 17 nations competing in 14 sports.
Through its corporate philanthropy initiative, Sage Foundation, a team of colleagues from Sage Australia and around the world will volunteer at the Toronto and Sydney Invictus Games.
“We are extremely honoured to once again partner with the Invictus Games after our first Games in Orlando last year. Our colleagues, customers and partners will be giving their time to celebrate the unconquerable spirit of competitors and the heroic friends and family who stand with them, at the next two Invictus Games in Toronto and Sydney,” said country Vice President, Sage Australia, Alan Osrin.
The Invictus Games sponsorship is the centrepiece of Sage Foundation’s commitment to supporting service people when they leave the military. However, the company’s commitment to helping servicemen and women goes much deeper than a traditional sponsorship.
Sage will be extending its existing mentoring and work placement programmes for former military service personnel to Australian servicemen and women looking to establish small businesses and learn business skills as they consider their careers beyond competitive sport.
“Sage believes the heroes that serve our country share many of the same values as its small and medium business customers—to look deeper, reach higher, and strive harder – and that we all benefit from teaching each other new skills on and off the battlefield.
“It is our global commitment to the Invictus Games which inspired us to launch the Sage Military Mentoring Programme in the UK to help veterans around the world secure meaningful employment and futureproof their careers in the digital age. Tailored veteran skills training, workplace mentoring and meaningful work placements can unlock a better future; not just for our heroes, but for our economy and communities. We will extend these services to Australia in the lead-up to the Invictus Games Sydney 2018,” added Osrin.
"We are grateful to have Sage join with us on our journey to Invictus Games Sydney 2018. Together, we have an aligned purpose to support the reintegration of our veterans back into the Australian community via supporting the search for meaningful employment after service. It is partnerships like this that can ensure the Games has an enduring impact and legacy beyond October 2018,” said Patrick Kidd, CEO Invictus Games Sydney 2018.
Sage is unlocking even more possibilities thanks to its philanthropic contribution through Sage Foundation in Australia, by investing time, money, expertise and technology in non-profit partners that are helping military veterans reach their true potential.
