K-TIG's Belinda Latz Awarded Behind Closed Doors Luminaries Scholarship

Announcing the winner at a Connexions networking event, BCD Founder and Managing Director, Donny Walford, said the 12-month Scholarship is awarded to a successful woman seeking access to insights, knowledge, support and high level networks in their journey to Executive and Board positions.

“Belinda has been with K-TIG since start-up, with planned growth trajectory in the next three years the behind closed doors Luminaries membership will arm Belinda with the skills needed to match her career growth to that of the company.”

“I extend my congratulations to our winner, Belinda Latz, as well as our worthy runners up, Sally Woolford, Senior Project Manager at SA Police and Danielle Hanisch, Acting Senior Manager Community Services at Uniting Communities,” Ms Walford said.

Ms Latz, who has been a key member of the leadership team of fast-growing K-TIG since 2013, has developed leadership skills that are broad-ranging, flexible and creative. Her skills have developed in an environment that have been very hands-on as part of a growing team that has swelled from three to 12 in that short time.

“I am aware that I still have much to learn and I am keen to find ways to gain knowledge which will give me a professional edge and further develop my value to K-TIG.” Ms Latz said in her application. “A start-up, particularly a male-dominated start-up, can be extremely lonely as each individual attempts to complete the work of three. On the flip side, a start-up provides an amazing opportunity for development of wider experiences.”

In accepting the award, Ms Latz said the Luminaries membership would arm her with the best opportunity to maximize the opportunities at K-TIG. “It will enable me to seek advice from accomplished professionals, be challenged and grow my confidence.”

The BCD Luminaries Scholarship offers businesswomen aspiring to executive roles the opportunity to further expand their leadership and management skills through a year-long membership to BCD Luminaries, valued at more than $5,500.

BCD awarded a Luminaries Scholarship to Jasmine Richards of OZ MINERALS in February and was able to open the Scholarship up to a second round following the award of an Australian Government Grant allowing BCD to provide an additional 14 fully-funded memberships as Scholarships across Australia.

BCD Luminaries was created in response to an identified need for motivated businesswomen to have a professional sounding board and support network where they can discuss professional and personal issues, challenges and strategies in a totally confidential environment while, at the same time, encouraging each other to extend themselves to achieve and succeed in new environments.

Members meet for three hours, ten times a year, for group mentoring, professional development and networking with like-minded women. Outside of this further professional development, networking and mentorship opportunities are provided to members amongst the wider BCD community.

“One of its major aims,” concluded Ms Walford, “is to increase women’s representation on Boards, committees and in executive management roles and BCD has an enviable track record in successfully supporting our members to achieve these types of roles.”
