Conscious Club Presents Happiness with Dr Saamdu Chetri

Announcement posted by GoodFit Global 15 Jun 2017

Explore the meaning of happiness with the Director of Bhutan’s Gross National Happiness Centre

Sydney, 15 June 2017: On Wednesday 28th June, Conscious Club, Australia’s leading community for positive causes, will welcome Dr Saamdu Chetri, the Director of The Gross National Happiness Centre of Bhutan, to their June event at Bondi Pavilion.

According to science, happiness occurs when chemicals like endorphins, dopamine, serotonin and oxytocin are released.

Dr Saamdu Chetri, however, defines happiness as “living in harmony with nature, living in harmony and balance with others around you and being in touch with yourself and your own wisdom.”

Since 1971, the country of Bhutan has prioritised its citizen’s happiness over economic growth. In the last 20 years Bhutan has doubled life expectancy, enrolled almost 100% of its children in primary school and overhauled its infrastructure.

Bhutan citizens meditate once a day, conserve traditional values rather than accumulate materialistic things, care for their environment, remain carbon neutral, ensure 60% of their landmass remains under forest cover, protect their wildlife, care as much for their neighbours as they do for their immediate families and all educational facilities are green.

Conscious Club Co-Founder Gary Gorrow will be interviewing Dr Chetri and exploring how happiness can create the conditions for social, economic, environmental, psychological and spiritual wellbeing.

About Conscious Club

Conscious Club are a community of thinkers, storytellers, community partners and friends who celebrate the enlightened side of life.

A non-profit organization, it was founded in Australia by two leading meditation teachers, Gary Gorrow and Tim Brown, with entrepreneur Clair Jennifer as the voluntary CEO.

The collective mission is pure; to create a movement of likeminded people, to inspire them to Do Good for themselves, each other and the earth by spreading conscious messages throughout. This is achieved by building the community through social media outreach and creating regular inspiring events and films.

Conscious Club’s regular events artfully weave together an upbeat social connection time during a nourishing healthy meal. A group meditation is held to lift and spread the collective energy, renown inspirational speakers share their enriching knowledge and stories, musicians play soul-stirring music, and thought-provoking films are screened, forging a sense of camaraderie amongst guests. Global influencers who have appeared at Conscious Club include Deepak Chopra, Jamie Durie, Ronnie Kahn and Sarah Wilson along with artists and musicians like Xavier Rudd and Ben Lee.

What makes the Conscious Club special is its community. The club is free to join, everyone is welcome and it’s where great friendships are ignited. Conscious Club connects humans on the same mission and path in life - living life less ordinary.
