More about TPC-C and tpmC:

TPC-C is a standardised benchmark test for measuring the performance throughput of complete system configurations. The results of the TPC-C benchmark tests are subject to scrutiny by the Transaction Processing Performance Council (TPC). The results may only be published after they have been verified by an auditor commissioned by the TPC. The TPC-C benchmark test uses the model of a database application for a warehouse. While the system performs a certain number of simulated payment, order status, delivery and stock-level transactions, the number of "new order" transactions that the system can handle in addition is measured in the benchmark test. The tpm-C metric indicates the number of "new order" transactions that can be fully processed per minute with a response time of less than five seconds.
Further information about the TPC institution, TPC-C benchmark tests and published benchmark results can be downloaded from the TPC website at www.tpc.org/.
