New Zealand esports pioneer joins IGEA

Wellington, New Zealand – 14 September 2017 – The Interactive Games & Entertainment Association (IGEA) continues to expand its membership base, welcoming New Zealand-based esports media company Let’s Play Live (LPL)as an Associate Member.
Founded in 2016, LPL has been focused on building an ecosystem to drive the continued growth of esports in Australasia by promoting and producing high profile broadcast events, content creation, and league management.
LPL was the first group to promote a televised esports event in New Zealand and a long format televised esports series in Australasia. The media company is a founding member of the New Zealand esports Federation and played a key role in establishing the E Blacks, New Zealand’s national team on the international esports stage in amateur competitions. LPL also established New Zealand’s High School League to promote esports as a positive experience that opens up sports team building, leadership and self-improvement opportunities to students outside ‘traditional’ sports.
LPL’s online platform letsplay.live provides esports fans with a destination to watch live games and check the latest news, scores and schedules.
Duane Mutu, Director of LPL, said: “With esports exploding in popularity within the Australasian region, it makes sense to join IGEA and expand our work with publishers, distributors, games developers and media companies to drive the category forward. We look forward to continuing our work with IGEA’s members to develop world-class esports tournaments.”
