Since the release of the 2016 Defence White Paper, Australia is trying to become one of the countries that can build and maintain its own naval defense fleet. Australia will spend $89 billion over the coming years building 12 Future Submarines, 12 Offshore Patrol Vessels, and nine Future Frigates.
But, Australia not only wants to develop its naval defense fleet, it also has personnel and companies prepared to serve the commercial, cargo shipping, fishing, tourism and recreational sectors. For 30 years Sean Johnston, CEO of Commercial Marine Solution in the Gold Coast, has experience in the marine industry, with qualifications as a boat builder constructing yachts and motor boats. Later graduating with honors from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) with a Bachelor Degree in Naval Architecture, Sean embarked on a career in the shipbuilding sector becoming responsible for Platform Engineering as well as Slipway Manager and Dockmaster.
Commercial Marine Solution (CMS) utilize the skills and tools used in our engineering methodology and technical reporting to provide expert services in the following areas: marine survey and inspection and condition, valuation pre-purchase inspection, insurance inspection, legal technical advice to the legal profession, expert legal witness, and testimony reports and analysis.
CMS was incorporated in 2003 and is an independent consultancy providing design and marine consulting solutions for the commercial marine and Defense industries. The team at CMS have extensive marine industry experience having been involved for more than 30 years within the marine industry. During 2015 CMS started the process for obtaining ISO accreditation which was fulfilled in 2016 with CMS now a fully ISO:9001:2015 compliant organization for providing marine design and marine consulting solutions to all sectors of the marine industry.
