The SCO(r) Group (SCO)(Nasdaq: SCOX), a leading provider of Linux and UNIX business software solutions, has announced the release of SCO OpenServer 5.0.7, the latest full release for the SCO OpenServer family of products.
SCO OpenServer is the most popular commercial UNIX on Intel server operating system for small-to-medium businesses and other markets such as retail replicated sites. SCO OpenServer 5.0.7 is available in three versions - Enterprise, Host and Desktop system - allowing SCO to meet customers' particular networking and application needs.
SCO OpenServer 5.0.7 includes the SCO Update Service. This new service provides customers with early access to incremental product releases through easy-to-install, regularly scheduled upgrade packs leading to and including the next release of SCO OpenServer. SCO Update Service gives customers access to the latest enhancements the moment they are available, rather than having to wait for the normal 15 to 18 month release cycle.
SCO OpenServer 5.0.7 features enhanced hardware support, including USB 2.0 integration, new and enhanced graphic, network and HBA device drivers, and updated and integrated Uniform Driver Interface (UDI) support. SCO OpenServer 5.0.7 also adds support for Intel(r) Pentium(tm) 4, Intel Xeon(tm), AMD Athlon(tm) XP and AMD Athlon(tm) MP. In addition, it integrates many popular Open Source libraries and tools such as Samba, Mozilla, OpenSSL, OpenSLP, OpenSSH, OpenLDAP, Perl and Apache. The SCO standard online documentation system, DocView, is added for both local and remote access to system documentation.
"Thousands of users across Australia and New Zealand depend on SCO OpenServer to grow their business because of its reliability, stability and cost effectiveness," said Kieran O'Shaughnessy, SCO's regional general manager for Australia and New Zealand. For retail and replicated-site businesses, as well as small-to-medium sized businesses, SCO OpenServer 5.0.7 is the tailor-made choice with an unparalleled reputation."
