Cortex Finds Just The Solution For A Chairman

Announcement posted by Cortex eBusiness 25 Sep 2001

Cortex eBusiness has appointed long time Solution 6 Director, Michael F. Clarkin, OAM to the position of Chairman, Cortex eBusiness. Adopting a very hands-on role, Mr Clarkin will become involved with the Cortex business processes and continue to steer the company towards further success. The management team believes that with Mr Clarkins input the company can continue its rapid growth that has taken it from its early days within the incubator programme at Australian Technology Park to todays multi-million dollar client base.

Mr Clarkin joins Cortex eBusiness with almost 30 years within the IT industry. Fine-tuning years of expertise from both a technical and management perspective, he also has extensive experience at providing strategic counsel at Board level. Currently he holds directorship roles with a variety of companies, including Solution 6 Holdings Limited (a position he has held for the past nine years), Transact Communications Pty Limited, Storage Computer Australia Pty Ltd, Access Programs (NSW) Pty Ltd, Centacare Sydney and is Founder and Chairman of Assured Systems New Zealand Ltd.

In one of his most renowned roles, Mr Clarkin founded Wang New Zealand and then went on to become Managing Director of Wang Australia. Success in this role later led him to the role of Vice President Wang Laboratories Inc. South Pacific Operations based in Sydney. In this role Clarkin produced Wangs most successful international operation.

Mr Clarkin recently outlined his hopes for his role at Cortex eBusiness, I was impressed by the dedication that Cortex has displayed to both its customers and the demanding market that it serves. I am looking forward to contributing to gaining global market share for the company, together with establishing a high level of respect for Cortex services and products. The company prides itself on its quality deliverables and development expertise.

Further he believes that there will be a slowdown in the immediate future for the Australian IT industry and solid Chairmanship will be the key reason to long-term success. However the short-term shakeout will rid the industry of overhead during the next two years. This will pave the way for organisations such as Cortex eBusiness to succeed in an environment where quality products and services are matched to a predictable customer spend.

The Cortex management team emphasised the benefits that Mr Clarkin will bring to the company and its clients.

Mike not only has an extensive understanding of what makes a successful sales and services organisation, he also has a wide network of contacts that are invaluable for a company that has only been operating for a period of three years, outlined Mr Peter Moore, CEO of Cortex eBusiness Pty Ltd.

Mr Clarkin is not only passionate about rugby and cricket in his spare time, networking with business colleagues forms part of his relaxation.

Cortex eBusiness is currently involved exporting its services capabilities to global m-commerce projects for financial services institutions in Korea and Japan and transport facilities in the United States. The company is the technologist behind David Jones Online.
