Typsy releases a new hospitality course on Mise en Place led by Australian personality and TV cook Alastair McLeod this week. The course focuses on the preparation of dishes and ingredients before the beginning of service to help alleviate stress during busy service periods.

Consisting of nine lessons, McLeod will show hospitality staff the benefits of decluttering their workstations to ensure a speedy, hassle free food service. Aspects covered include setting up workstations, preparing ingredients and arranging equipment and utensils. McLeod also highlights the importance of time management, teamwork, and communication - the essentials needed to ensure any kitchen runs smoothly.

McLeod runs his own catering business, Al’FreshCo, which aids dinner party hosts with the planning, sourcing and implementation of dinner. He has appeared on numerous TV shows including Channel Seven’s Great Day Out and Network 10’s Ready Steady Cook, and travels Australia as a corporate host and MC for the Good Food and Wine Show.

The course joins more than 350 other lessons, courses and mentor sessions on the Typsy hospitality training website. Course content includes topics such as culinary, service, beverage and management with the aim to make hospitality training simpler and more accessible.

Typsy provides accessible, fun, interactive training to the hospitality industry worldwide to help businesses fix their biggest problem, the skills shortage. Finding skilled staff or being able to train new staff quickly and easily is a huge global problem and it is growing larger.

This Mise en place course is another step towards helping to close the skills gap and is a fun way to provide access to watch tailored skilled training from hospitality industry professionals, and earn a certificate.

Quote from instructor Alastair McLeod:

“Mise en place is the cornerstone, the very essence, the quintessence, the DNA of a chef. An understanding of this topic will propel you through your whole career.”
