Compuware Asia-Pacific and The University of Sydney 2003 winners of a (BHERT) Award

Compuware Asia-Pacific and The University of Sydney have been selected as 2003 winners of a Business/Higher Education Round Table (BHERT) Award for Outstanding Achievement in Collaboration in Education and Training.
The Award, which is sponsored by the Department of Education, Science and Training, is one of the most prestigious in the higher education community. It was presented to Compuware and The University of Sydney in recognition of their ambitious program to attract and retain top students, especially women, to study Information Technology.
The program comprises three main initiatives:
The Compuware Computer Science Summer School: an extensive residential problem-based learning experience for around 60 students and four teachers that is held each year. These lessons involve intellectual challenges, teamwork and broad problem-solving skills.
A new degree program, the Bachelor of Arts Informatics, which integrates broad Arts studies with IT.
The Science Lectureships initiative, which aims to retain IT students through developing outstanding teaching resources
This program has been running for over three years and aims to maintain premium education and training in Information Technology.

Commenting on the award, Peter Pritchard, Marketing Director, Compuware Asia-Pacific said: "Raising the standard of higher education and recruiting talented students into IT courses is a crucial issue for the whole IT industry. Providing opportunities for our future industry leaders will ensure that Australia remains at the forefront of IT innovation and we are delighted that BHERT has recognised Compuware and The University's contribution to this".

The criteria for evaluation of the program included: innovativeness, strength of the relationship between collaborating partners, outreach inclusion (e.g. overseas), national benefits and cultural impact on the partner/organisation.

Compuware was also recognised with an honourable mention for its scholarship program and work experience initiatives with Macquarie University
