Request announces network expansion plans

Announcement posted by Request Broadband 18 Feb 2003

Requests second annual Channel Partner Forum attracts over 180 representatives from Service Provider and System Integrator organisations
Request Broadband Pty Ltd (Request), a leading Australian wholesale broadband services provider, held its second annual Request Channel Partner Forum at the Manly Pacific Park Royal on 6 and 7 February 2003.
The two day conference attracted such speakers as Senator Kate Lundy, Shadow Minister for IT & Sport and Rosemary Sinclair, ATUG MD. Kerri Pottharst was the highlight at the Gala Dinner, sharing her own personal development and strategies to Go the extra mile.. - Theme of the Forum.
Request CEO, Phil Sykes, announced that the company had committed to expanding its core network and would have a 145 business grade exchange coverage by June 2004. Further network rollout is justified because of the strong demand for VPN services, said Sykes. The first four new exchanges to be deployed are Silverwater (NSW), Wheelers Hill (Vic), Toowong (Qld) and Balmain (NSW).
This would be made up of the 52 existing Request exchanges, 38 new Request exchanges over the next 16 months and 55 Optus exchanges made available by the reciprocal wholesale supply contracts signed by Request and Optus last December.
Today, Request enjoys just under 17 per cent of the revenue for all business DSL connections, said Scott Carter, Requests Director of Sales. Carter outlined the various 2003 marketing and sales programs that would ensure a solid growth in market share over the next 12 months.
The company would also be launching an enhanced Service Level Agreement Premium SLA, releasing Phase 2 of its unique VPN product and is currently testing voice over IP (VoIP) over its network with a VoIP solution planned to be released in the second half of 2003.
The fact that 30 per cent of December 2002 sales were RequestVPN solutions and 20 per cent were symmetric DSL installations, reinforces Requests belief that the future is not just in the internet world but in the data world. What we are delivering is symmetric business information solutions to the small to medium office [SMO] environment, said Carter. And this presents an enormous opportunity for our Request service provider community.
The second annual Channel Partner awards saw RSL.COM win Request Platinum Carrier Partner 2002, Activ Australia win Request Platinum Channel Partner 2002, with Lanrex winning Request Best New Channel Partner 2002. Saise won Request Gold Channel Partner 2002 and Techex Communications won Request Silver Channel Partner 2002.
Embarking on an aggressive campaign to secure the position of the preferred business broadband services provider in 2003, Request has strengthened its channel sales and support team as well as the companys operational and customer support capabilities.
