Announcement posted by NEC Australia 31 Jan 2007
NEC Corporation (“NEC”) today announced the launch of new NEC Express5800/ft series fault-tolerant servers in the Asia Pacific region. Featuring the Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® Processors (note 1) and Microsoft® Windows Server® 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition (note 2), the new ft series models deliver enhanced computing performance in addition to outstanding availability, and are ideal for server consolidation and data integrity.
The latest ft series models employ Dual Modular Redundancy architecture, which is also employed by existing models - main hardware components, such as the CPU, memory, hard disks, and PCI slots, are physically replicated in separate modules for redundant processing. Furthermore, NEC’s dedicated chipset GeminiEngine ensures that these redundant components deliver lockstep processing (note 3), allowing the system to achieve true fault tolerance should any hardware failure occur. There are a total of four new models, including two midrange models, 320Fb-M and 320Fb-MR, and two entry-level models, the 320Fb-L and 320Fb-LR. Each range offers both pedestal and rack-optimized models.
In recent years, enterprise systems, such as financial services and manufacturing controls, have been increasingly called upon to ensure operational stability along with massive and high-speed processing in order to prevent business disruption caused by system hardware failures. The NEC Express5800/320Fb is the optimum choice to address all these needs not only through its further improved availability but through its high processing capability, cost-efficiency, and manageability.
The NEC Express5800/320Fb is now available in Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
Please refer to the following features table for the product features of the new models.
