ADC KRONE Paves the Way with Environmental Initiatives

The standard requires the implementation of procedures conforming to high environmental standards. The well-established ADC KRONE Quality Management System designed for ISO 9001 has been the building platform for the implementation of ISO 14001, allowing many of the requirements to be incorporated into existing procedures.
The company makes environmental protection a primary concern and has set up numerous initiatives over the years. All plastics, metals, paper and ink are recycled. In addition, committees are in place to proactively identify environmental risk and opportunity for improvement. The Environmental Management System enables the organisation to establish and assess the effectives of procedures and conformance to a set environmental policy. This system measures the success of the environmental program through management reviews, employee awareness and training programs, recycling programs, and a facility communication campaign.
Denis Briggs, environmental co-ordinator for ADC KRONE said We have been working to this standard since October 2000, with continued improvement of our environmental performance, which is a key business objective of ADC KRONE. We aim to increase recycling components of all waste and do this through our waste monitoring program. A chemical review program is also in place, designed to reduce the amount of chemicals in our manufacturing process. This also ensures that recycling and reuse of chemicals is exercised wherever possible.
The new accreditation comes into effect in May 2006.
