Australian e-health solution supports Victoria’s largest hospital group

Australian owned LRS Health beats big multinationals for large e-health rollout at Southern Health

LRS Health, an Australian owned and operated e-health provider, today announced it will rollout an e-health system for Victoria’s largest hospital group, Southern Health. After an exhaustive selection process lasting six months, LRS Health was selected to provide its MediPATH Pathology Management system, beating out large multinationals like GE and Cerner.

Providing specialist services to 32 percent of metropolitan Melbourne, Southern Health has over 40 sites including five major hospitals. The new system will process the estimated 1.5 million pathology tests that are required for patients each year – ranging from blood and urine analysis to complicated genetic testing. The advanced functionality of the new system is designed to significantly improve both the accuracy and timeliness of patient’s pathology results.

Andrew Edgley, CEO of LRS Health explained; “The MediPATH system allows clinicians to order tests straight from the patient’s bedside, the system then takes the specimen and via a completely automated system, interfaces with over 50 different highly sophisticated laboratory analysers for the results. Test results are then returned via LRS Health’s secure messaging service, AllTalk, not only to the requesting clinician but also to other parties involved in the patients care, for example their GP.” LRS Health’s AllTalk program is already used by over 3,500 medical practices in Australia and uses PKI encryption, digital signing and certificate management services to ensure the highest levels of security.

A major factor in the choice to use LRS Health’s MediPATH solution over competitors was that it is specifically designed to suit Australian pathology laboratories, with customised administration and billing engines that interface directly with Medicare, VET Affairs and others to enable more efficient and accurate service for patients. The Southern Health solution will also interface with patient administration systems, clinicians systems, accident and emergency systems and national and Victorian e-health projects. “This solution was purpose built by LRS Health for Australian pathology labs and the LRS Health specialists will work very closely with Southern Health to highly customise the solution to their specific environment. As we are a local company we are also very well positioned to provide constant service and 24 hour support,” Edgley continued.

LRS Health currently has e-health solutions installed in more than 25 sites throughout Australia, from the smallest GP’s to the largest health conglomerates including Royal Prince Alfred hospital in Sydney, St Vincent’s in Sydney and Melbourne, North Coast Area Health Service sites and the St. John of God Pathology. Edgley finished; “LRS Health provides specialty programming services for tough problems in the health sector. All LRS Health applications can be tailored to meet the requirements of individual clients so our products are constantly evolving in response to market forces. It is a mark of both the quality of, and service provided for these products, that no client has ever switched to another application unless that client has been purchased by a larger corporation.”
