Melbourne, Australia – 31st May 2010:Axis Communications IP Network Cameras are being used to monitor Parliament House in Canberra, as part of a major contract won by BAE Systems to replace the existing Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) management system.

Axis encoders are already in use at Parliament House to support the existing analog DVR systems currently in place. As part of the upgrade to the CCTV management system several new Axis IP Network Cameras will be installed throughout the premises, which will provide:

1080i HDTV quality images for detailed image clarity

Intelligent video capabilities, such as advanced motion detection, audio detection and detection of camera tampering

High performance in extreme weather conditions

Easy installation and discreet design for indoor surveillance

Smooth integration with existing building management system

         Remote monitoring capabilities

Wai King Wong, Country Manager Australia and New Zealand, Axis Communications, said: “Parliament House is part of Australia’s critical infrastructure and has a high level of traffic passing through its buildings and grounds every day. It requires a security monitoring system that is reliable, flexible and intelligent, which the BAE Systems solution with Axis Communications IP Network Cameras provides.

“The new system will utilise a range of our IP network cameras, including HDTV technology for where high quality, detailed identification is needed. It also has the capability for future advanced surveillance applications to be easily added to the system, future-proofing this security investment.”
