IT Congress "Golden Opportunity" For NSW Companies

NSW IT firms - including many from Western Sydney - have a golden opportunity to showcase their products before international industry heavyweights at the World Congress On IT, the Minister for Information Technology and Western Sydney, Kim Yeadon, said.

Mr Yeadon said the booming NSW IT Industry is on the world stage this week at the Adelaide congress with a prominent display of initiatives including the Western Sydney IT Cluster, the Australian Technology Park (ATP), and the North Sydney - North Ryde IT Corridor.

In addition, I am hosting a lunch on Friday for NSW companies and leading IT executives from Australia and overseas, Mr Yeadon said.

This will give NSW firms the opportunity to promote their business through networking with potential customers, partners and investors.

NSW companies invited to the lunch are Tower Technology, IdeaData, Beacon IT, Fujitsu, Powerlan and Redfern Polymer Optics.

These firms are the State winners of a Secrets of Australian IT Innovation competition which attracted 217 national entries over eight categories including software solutions, ecommerce, multimedia and security.

Tower Technology won Australia's 2001 Information and Communications Technology Award as NSW IT Exporter of the Year, an award sponsored by the NSW Department of Information Technology and Management.

Tower Technology is a leading provider of infrastructure software for high-volume document and content processing.

IdeaData, one of only two Australian firms to win awards in two categories of the Secrets of Australian IT Innovation competition, has its base at the ATP.

NSW is the dominant IT state in Australia and a regional leader in Asia Pacific, generating revenues of $26 billion annually and employing 90,000 workers.

The NSW Governments ongoing commitment to promoting industry, education and training will ensure NSW maintains its pre-eminent position as the connected state.
