Jason Ayres launches CD at sunday@subi
Having built a solid reputation around the country as a seasoned solo artist, Jason Ayres, described by Drum Media Australia as ‘one of Perth's finer acoustic acts’, now brings together a band of quality musicians to take his live performance to new heights.
Influenced by the pop of John Mayer, the vocal stylings of Jeff Buckley and the driving beats of Coldplay, Jason Ayres has fashioned his own brand of mainstream acoustic based pop-rock.
With years of performing in venues alongside Perth favourites’ Nathan Gaunt, Toby and Code Red, Saritah and James Cruikshank (the Cruel Sea), Jason has mastered the art of delivering a stylized and polished performance.
After the smashing success of his debut acoustic EP, ’Acoustic Sessions’, Jason Ayres follows up with his bigger, better and bolder pop-rock release ’Chasing Ghosts‘. The album features the experience and talents of Ric Eastman on drums and Jon Ryder on bass, giving the recording a driving rhythm, that holds its own underneath the catchy pop melodies.
Ayres said, launching the new CD as part of the sunday@subi concerts has opened up a fresh avenue to perform to an all ages audience who would otherwise miss out.
“Not only that, the Subiaco Arts Centre is one of the coolest venues around,” Jason said.
Jason Ayers is supported by Jessica Hewett, a twenty-year old singer-songwriter from Perth’s hills. Hailed as the next Missy Higgins, Jess’s tracks fuse the alternative acoustic scene with catchy pop melodies.
Tickets are free and are available on the day from 1.15pm, with concerts starting at 2pm and finishing at 3.30pm, including a short break to enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine from the Subiaco Arts Centre bar.
The sunday@subi series is a free community concert series that covers a mix of themes and genres suitable for all ages. The series runs every Sunday from 18 July to 3 October at the Subiaco Art Centre, 180 Hamersley Road, Subiaco.
