Ninefold Releases New Templates For Secure Remote Access And Faster Web Application Development
~ offers new VPN and LAMP templates~
Sydney, April 20 2011 – Ninefold, the Australian public cloud compute and cloud storage company, has released new templates for system administrators and web application developers.
Ninefold’s new VPN (virtual private network) template allows system administrators to rapidly provision a server in the cloud with VPN software pre-installed, allowing quick enablement of remote VPN access for business users. The VPN template comes with Ubuntu, OpenVPN and StrongSwan IPSec VPN ready to run, only requiring site-specific configuration to complete the deployment. This helps connect remote workers more easily with their email, applications and other IT resources at the workplace.
The Ninefold LAMP template replaces manual processes, reduces duplication and helps developers get applications - such content management systems (CMS) customer relationship management (CRM) and publishing applications - to market faster on the Ninefold platform.
It offers a pre-built LAMP server image that can be run on the Ninefold cloud within minutes. Developers can simply create a new virtual server: pick an instance size (CPU, memory, disk), select the new LAMP template, and click ‘create’ to deploy a new LAMP virtual server. LAMP, the open source (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP) stack, is the basis of many powerful server-side applications on the internet.
The new template means that customers can create as many of the exact same LAMP virtual servers required, each with the exact same software components installed. As all the components are open source, there are no additional fees or charges for using the LAMP stack template.
Peter Bui, Director, PB Web Development, specialises in building websites with Joomla, one of the most popular open source content management systems. “The Ninefold LAMP stack saves a huge amount of setup time. Being able to invoke an instance with everything pre-configured within just a few minutes is a huge time saver and a huge advantage. It also allows us to have a backup capability for our customers’ websites. If any of our clients’ sites go down, we can quickly spin up another LAMP stack on Ninefold, install Joomla and their data on to it and have it up again quickly, thus minimising downtime.”
“Make life easier for developers, automate more processes and help get applications to market faster, that’s the mantra for technical development at Ninefold,” said Peter James, Chairman and Co-Founder at Ninefold. “Online applications, and users’ appetite for them, is growing at the speed of lightening. This template will ensure a vastly faster process for developers creating sites and applications, and take away the hassle of manually creating an instance from scratch.”
