The PRWIRE Press Releases http:// 2013-05-21T23:30:00Z SolarMax launches into the U.S. solar market 2013-05-21T23:30:00Z solarmax-launches-into-the-u-s-solar-market Sydney, Australia, 22 May 2013 – The Swiss inverter manufacturer Sputnik Engineering, with more than 20 years of experience in the solar industry, launched with its SolarMax brand into the United States market and celebrated its Atlanta, Georgia area office opening. The operational expansion will allow SolarMax to deliver its portfolio of Swiss-quality grid-connected PV inverters to the rapidly growing U.S. solar market. To support growth, the company recently staffed up the facility, which houses sales and research & development, for the new U.S. arm of the company. SolarMax’s first U.S. office is headed by technology and PV solar industry veteran, Alan Beale, who will head sales efforts in the U.S. market. Beale comes to SolarMax from REFUsol, where he was Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Prior to that, Alan held executive leadership roles at Canesta, Immersion Corporation, Clarity LLC, SGI and General Electric. The U.S. solar market experienced record-breaking 76% growth in 2012 and is the fastest growing energy source in the U.S., according to recent research from GTM Research and the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA). “We firmly believe that the growth in the U.S. market is just getting underway and there is enormous opportunity for SolarMax. The generation of electricity from the sun has reached grid parity in some states today with more to follow shortly. Residential and commercial customers alike are realising that solar now makes sound economic sense,” said Alan Beale, General Manager, SolarMax USA, Inc. SolarMax’ local presence will enable them to grow and build up new customer relationships abroad and maintain the high level of pre- and after-sales services. SolarMax will complete testing and certification of its commercial- and industrial-grade PV inverters according to UL standards for use in the U.S. market. The PV inverters will be available across the U.S nation as early as this summer. -Ends- About SolarMax Sputnik Engineering AG, a Swiss company, is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of grid-connected solar inverters. BCS Strata Management welcomes the change but wants to get the message out to all owners and tenants in existing apartments, that they too can easily make their windows safe in just a few minutes for just a few dollars.Group Chief Executive Officer Greg Haywood says the changes to the Australian Building Code mean that from last week all new apartment buildings constructed across the country are required to fit each opening window above the ground floor with a safety device preventing them from opening more than 12.5 centimetres.“For some time BCS has been working with property developers to ensure before building construction starts that the building plans take into consideration the living needs of the eventual inhabitants. From this week we will also remind them of the need to install locks or barriers to ensure the safety of our youngest inhabitants,” Mr Haywood said.On 13 March, the NSW Government also announced a package of reforms aimed at addressing the number of fatalities and injuries suffered as a result of children falling from windows. This is in response to a report prepared by the Westmead Children’s Hospital into this issue.“We welcomed the NSW government’s discussion paper seeking views on its proposal to mandate the installation of safety devices on all windows that prevent the risk to children in strata complexes,” Mr Haywood said.“The NSW government has indicated that it would phase in this mandatory requirement over the next five years and will form part of the current legislation as well as its successor legislation.Submissions to the NSW Government discussion paper closed recently. For existing buildings there are a number of products on the market which are easy and inexpensive to install and provide a good level of safety regardless of whether the apartment is occupied by owners or tenants.“While individuals are already able to install window locking devices themselves we would also encourage owners corporations and bodies corporate to take this issue on board and ensure every window above ground floor level is safe by installing devices where it is practical to do so.”BCS has been educating its apartment owners about the dangers of children playing near windows which are unsecured. Dassault Systèmes Announces Acquisition of Archividéo 2013-04-29T00:32:00Z -30 Dassault Systèmes <http://www.3ds.com> (Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA), the 3DEXPERIENCE Company, a world leader in 3D design, 3D Digital Mock Up and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, announced today the acquisition of Archividéo, the world leader in the automated creation and management of large 3D urban environments and landscapes. The acquisition of Archividéo, based in Rennes, France, its technology, and its talents, brings a new dimension to Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE strategy and platform, extending it to urban environment planning with proven 3D city and landscape modelling technology. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed. “This is an important acquisition for our company,” said Bernard Charlès, President and CEO, Dassault Systèmes. “The next step for sustainable planning is to imagine cities, countries or industrial fields in 3DEXPERIENCE universes. Our goal at Dassault Systèmes is the harmonising of products, nature and life through 3DEXPERIENCE universes. With the integration of Archividéo technology within the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, we will provide a 3D model of any country to simulate ‘what if’ scenarios of energy, transportation, or construction flows compliant with reality. This type of 3D city model allows consistent and accurate merging of multiple sources of data (from open-data to proprietary information), and provides an independent referential for a city and all the players involved in it. Thanks to Archividéo’s heuristic technology, geo-photographic modelling, and procedural modelling technologies, complex urban and geo-environment models can be quickly created, with deep detail and tight mapping to the real-world environment. "The partnership between Archividéo and the National Institute of Geographic and Forest Information is emblematic of a successful collaboration, enhanced by the co-published online service Territoire3D. We welcome the rapprochement between Archividéo and Dassault Systèmes and the prospects it opens for simulating cities and their development projects: future impacts, access to information, and collaboration of all stakeholders in the city and citizens," said Pascal Berteaud, Managing Director of the National Institute of Geographic and Forest Information (IGN). Archividéo has over 250 customers, ranging from cities and municipalities to major utilities and other technology companies. The potential of Archividéo’s technology and applications is broad. The addition of Dassault Systèmes’ technology to Archividéo’s will provide Archividéo customers a strong partner. “This acquisition will power our 3DEXPERIENCity Innovation Lab. We will help countries like China that are facing urbanisation complexity to anticipate country development and to improve citizens’ quality of life,” said Bernard Charlès. In the quarter ending November, 2012, 1.0157 million workers were employed in the construction industry. During the quarter ending February of this year, the number rose to 1.0353 million, for an increase of 19,600 jobs.  Queensland added 13,310 jobs during the February quarter, while Western Australia added 3,930 jobs. The only two states to show decreases were NSW, losing 1,170 jobs, and South Australia, which lost 600 jobs.  Currently, most economists are predicting a labour shortage in Western Australia by the end of 2013. This is attributed mostly to the mining industry. Not only does the mining industry itself produce many jobs in Western Australia, but service and infrastructure economies have grown around the mining industry.  The end result is that employment in Western Australia is high, and most economists are predicting that Western Australia will soon have to import workers from other states and even other countries to keep up with the demand. In the construction industry, this is projected to become problematic, because there could soon be a lack of skilled labourers. With a general shortage of labour, and the possibility of an even worse shortage of skilled labour, it could produce the effect of slowing down the construction industry. Completion times for building new houses are predicted by some economists to increase to as long as a year by the end of 2013 or the beginning of 2014. The mining industry has been beneficial to the Western Australian economy, but it is also causing unexpected growth. As more workers are imported, the need for housing and business establishments grows, thus placing a strain on the ability of the construction industry to build what needs to be built. This is great for the Western Australian economy, but it could spell trouble for those wanting to have a house built in a reasonable amount of time. According to Craig Johns, Director of Next Level Extensions, a firm that does home improvements and home renovations in Perth, many of those planning to build new homes may be wise to look at renovating the homes they already have. Johns said, “With the impending labour shortage, combined with increased demand for new business and residential construction, it could become a lot more difficult to get a home built in a timely fashion.” Johns continued, “If it goes the way we think it’s going to go, it might be time for people who want a larger home to look at renovating their own homes. We can renovate a home or build a second storey addition for much less money than it would cost for a new home, and take a lot less time to do so. We currently have plenty of skilled, experienced employees to handle the load.” Johns added, “When we build a second storey extension or a standard extension on your current home, we can do so without disrupting your day to day living. We make the whole process easy for you, and you end up with a larger home that is worth a lot more money if you sell it. In addition, you don’t have to go through the hassle of moving.” Next Level Extensions is a home renovation and home extension firm in Perth.
