The PRWIRE Press Releaseshttp://2013-04-26T05:46:54ZRise in Construction Jobs Raises Question of Inevitable Worker Shortage2013-04-26T05:46:54Zrise-in-construction-jobs-raises-question-of-inevitable-worker-shortagePerth, WA, April 26, 2013 - The most recent release from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) revealed that employment in the construction industry is on the rise. In the quarter ending November, 2012, 1.0157 million workers were employed in the construction industry. During the quarter ending February of this year, the number rose to 1.0353 million, for an increase of 19,600 jobs. Queensland added 13,310 jobs during the February quarter, while Western Australia added 3,930 jobs. The only two states to show decreases were NSW, losing 1,170 jobs, and South Australia, which lost 600 jobs. Currently, most economists are predicting a labour shortage in Western Australia by the end of 2013. This is attributed mostly to the mining industry. Not only does the mining industry itself produce many jobs in Western Australia, but service and infrastructure economies have grown around the mining industry. The end result is that employment in Western Australia is high, and most economists are predicting that Western Australia will soon have to import workers from other states and even other countries to keep up with the demand. In the construction industry, this is projected to become problematic, because there could soon be a lack of skilled labourers. With a general shortage of labour, and the possibility of an even worse shortage of skilled labour, it could produce the effect of slowing down the construction industry. Completion times for building new houses are predicted by some economists to increase to as long as a year by the end of 2013 or the beginning of 2014. The mining industry has been beneficial to the Western Australian economy, but it is also causing unexpected growth. As more workers are imported, the need for housing and business establishments grows, thus placing a strain on the ability of the construction industry to build what needs to be built. This is great for the Western Australian economy, but it could spell trouble for those wanting to have a house built in a reasonable amount of time. According to Craig Johns, Director of Next Level Extensions, a firm that does home improvements and home renovations in Perth, many of those planning to build new homes may be wise to look at renovating the homes they already have. Johns said, “With the impending labour shortage, combined with increased demand for new business and residential construction, it could become a lot more difficult to get a home built in a timely fashion.” Johns continued, “If it goes the way we think it’s going to go, it might be time for people who want a larger home to look at renovating their own homes. We can renovate a home or build a second storey addition for much less money than it would cost for a new home, and take a lot less time to do so. We currently have plenty of skilled, experienced employees to handle the load.” Johns added, “When we build a second storey extension or a standard extension on your current home, we can do so without disrupting your day to day living. We make the whole process easy for you, and you end up with a larger home that is worth a lot more money if you sell it. In addition, you don’t have to go through the hassle of moving.” Next Level Extensions is a home renovation and home extension firm in Perth. No longer are servo drives a specialist piece of control equipment to be locked away and hidden from the public. In the past, pricing was hidden so no one knew the real sales price and once you’d placed an order you’d have to wait weeks or even months for your order to arrive.Once your order arrives, if you needed support you’d have to work your way along the supply chain from the sales person, through the distributor, the local office, until finally your request made it to the headquarters of the drive manufacturer. If you were lucky your request might make it to an engineer that had some knowledge of the product.ANCA Motion is removing these barriers as they believe that the advantages and benefits of servo drive technology and high speed field buses should be more accessible to everyone. With more efficient and direct product supply and simplified access to the engineering teams that actually designed and built the product, ANCA Motion are able to offer a servo drive range with compatible motors at an affordable price along with world class support. The newly launched website at www.ancamotion.com/AMD2000 will allow servo drives and motors to be purchased directly from ANCA Motion and shipped from our factory to your door. The initial offering will consist of some of the most popular products from ANCA Motion’s range and will be extended over time. The entire AMD2000 AC Servo Drive range from ANCA Motion comes standard with an EtherCAT interface for quick and easy integration with motion controllers or CNCs as well as other industrial devices. The technology has matured to the point where almost anyone can install and configure the drive without any special training.“We believe that EtherCAT Servo drives should be available to everyone at a reasonable price and we are making this happen.”About ANCA MotionANCA Motion (www.ancamotion.com) is an Australian company specialising in the design and manufacture of Control and Automation products. The compact S14D FlexMount is a universally deployable, easy concealable video system with a highly detailed resolution of up to six megapixels. The fully weatherproof IP camera has two miniature sensor modules, which are each connected to the camera housing with a two-meter cable. Thanks to the hemispheric dual lens, two separate rooms can be secured simultaneously without any blind spots. The camera, which is available in both mono (S14M) and dual (S14D) versions, offers a wide range of application opportunities. For instance, the S14D can be equipped with two hemispheric lens units with integrated microphone that connect to the main housing via cables. This makes it possible to fully secure two rooms located next to, or on top of, one another with just one single S14D unit. The slim design of the module units, which are available in white and black, permit an extremely discreet installation. Both module units and the separate housing with the latest dual camera board are weatherproof in accordance with IP65 and operate in a temperature range of -30°C to +60°C. The flat housing, including flash memory with up to 64 GB and all external connectors (Ethernet, MiniUSB, MxBus), can be installed discreetly and with optimal protection behind a wall or ceiling panel so that only the lens units in their ultra-compact protective housing are visible. Power is supplied very cost effective via a network cable (PoE). At less than five watt-hours, the energy consumption is extremely low.The camera's technical features and very discreet mounting open up a whole range of application opportunities. In L-shaped rooms, for example, the two sensor modules can be positioned at the corner in correct angles to each other, therefore capturing the entire room without any blind spots. Therefore, the S14 is particularly well-suited for use in hotels, banks and retail stores where the highest levels of security and discretion are required. The S14 can also demonstrate its strengths at security gates and in offices. MOBOTIX also offers the appropriate installation accessories for mounting the sensor module on thicker walls. Using several extension pieces (each approx. 40 mm), longer "tunnel holes" through a wall can also be bridged. For more information, contact Madison Technologies networking team on 1800 72 79 79 or at www.madisontech.com.au/mobotixRecord breaking flight helps Greyhound plight2013-04-17T01:57:24Zrecord-breaking-flight-helps-greyhound-plightTim Howes, who took
his first flight at age 13 years old, is reaching for the skies to break a new Australian
aviation record.
Tim plans to set a
new Australian record for the number take-off and landings completed in a
single day – all in the name of helping greyhounds. He will attempt to beat the
current record of 102 take offs and landings aiming for 120. He’ll complete the
feat in an open cockpit ultra-light aircraft called a Drifter near Lismore, on
May 4, 2013.
As well as breaking records, Tim also hopes to raise
awareness of the plight of greyhounds and how great they are as pets. As a
proud owner of a greyhound adopted from ‘Friends of the Hound’, raising
awareness about these dogs is close to Tim’s heart.
Friends of the Hound Inc. is a non-profit, volunteer based
group that aims is to raise awareness and educate the public about greyhound
welfare and the breed’s suitability as family pets and companions. Money raised from the event will help Friends
of the Hound to continue its work to save the lives of greyhounds.
“It is a record that I have wanted to crack for some time
now. I also wanted some way of letting people know about this cause. So this
was a perfect opportunity to do both”, explained Tim.
“Greyhounds are gentle, friendly and really affectionate.
They are quiet, great with kids and other animals, and surprisingly lazy,” Tim
said.
Lisa White, President of Friends of the Hound said, “There
are widespread misconceptions about the breed and with Tim’s help we can
promote greyhounds as pets and change the perception of them as ‘just a racing
dog’.”
Tim hopes to achieve this record and raise funds for Friends
of the Hound with help of friends and sponsors. Sponsorship opportunities are available.

Although Perth and Western Australia have a thriving economy courtesy of the mining boom, even their housing prices have not returned to their peak levels, which were attained shortly before the global financial crisis. Many economists currently view Australia as having an economy that consists of two tiers: Western Australia and the rest of Australia. While prices are rising in the Perth area and in other cities that have benefited from the mining boom, the housing market in most other Australian cities is recovering more slowly. Consequently, many housing developers and builders are finding themselves in a position where they are offering discounts and rebates to stimulate more movement in the market. For example, Australia’s largest developer, Stockland, is offering rebates for as much as $30,000 to those who buy homes in their communities located in New South Wales, Queensland, or Victoria. In South Australia, Devine is offering matching deposits, and even taking over as many as the first 12 months’ mortgage payments. Since November 2011, the Reserve Bank interest rate has been cut a total of 1.75 percentage points, but the results have been negligible in many parts of Australia. In December 2012, Australian new home sales were down 6.6% from December 2011. New home loan approvals were down 31% from their high-water mark in October 2009. Many developers maintain that the market for new homes is the worst they have seen in 20 years, and have little faith that it will improve in 2013. December 2012 home building approvals fell 4.4% from the previous month. However, they were 9.3% higher than they were in December 2011. While this would appear to be cause for celebration, it falls far short of the predicted rise of 14.9%. Home prices across the eight major Australian cities fell 0.4% in 2012, averaging $483,000. Melbourne saw the biggest decline; they were down 2.9%. While Perth has one of the healthiest economies in Australia, home prices only rose 0.8% in 2012, and one new home builder has gone so far as to offer discounts of $10,000 to entice buyers. According to Craig Johns, Director of Next Level Extensions, there are plenty of reasons why the housing market is not growing as fast as the rest of the economy appears to be: “These statistics don’t surprise us in the least. While the economy has made great strides, and we are really happy to see people beginning to get back on their feet, a lot of people aren’t quite comfortable in declaring that we are all the way back.” Johns continued, “Western Australia, and Perth in particular, have benefited greatly from the mining boom, but a lot of people see the mining boom as a double-edged sword. While the mining boom has brought us a lot of jobs, it has also made many of us dependent on the mining industry.” Johns concluded, “Many people are choosing to build on to their current home, doing home additions and renovations, instead of buying a new one. They get the benefit of increased living space without the financial stress involved in buying a larger home.” Next Level Extensions builds home extensions and second storey additions in Perth and the surrounding areas. Sydney — March 4, 2013 — Today Sheds4Less announced the latest garden shed to be
developed specifically for the Australian shed market
Alex Cochran founder
of Sheds4Less today announced;
“We are really
proud to bring this new garden shed onto the market. Recently a number of our
customers in the unit development market asked us for a 6 cubic metre shed.
This was something that we did not make, when I asked why 6 cubic metres, they
said that it was becoming common for multi-unit development approvals to
contain a clause that stipulated that 6 cubic metres of outdoor storage space
must be provided for each dwelling. Here was an opportunity.”
From concept to
reality in 6 weeks.
“Once we realized that
there were few shed options available that met this need, we sat down with our
engineers and designed a skillion roof shed that could be easily placed against
an outside wall, that had a sliding door to reduce space requirements, but
crucially provided 6.3 cubic metres of space. This shed was fast tracked in our
production facility and six weeks later it is available for sale” Cochran said.
“Not only were we able to get this shed onto
the market in less than 6 weeks, we were able to get it under $400 for the galvanized
version.” “We believe that this garden shed will become the first choice for
developers who want to provide useable outdoor storage space for their multi-unit
and townhouse developments” he went on to say.
The new Sheds4Less
developers
shed measures 2.3 x 1.5 x 1.8 metres and has a single sliding door. It
provides 6.3 cubic metres of outside storage space.
About Sheds4Less
Founded in 2012, Sheds4Less
is a pure online garden shed retailer that has developed products and systems
to make buying, erecting or installing a garden shed cheaper and easier.

– November 23rd, 2012 – EagleTrack is excited to announce the
addition of two hot new features to their online GPS Tracking System; Email
Alerts triggered by speeding and integrated Google Traffic overlays.
EagleTrack’s GPS Tracking System was developed to allow SMEs
a cost effective way to enhance work fleet usage as well as cut down
communication costs between office and fleet. Companies using the system can
log on at any time of day to view current location, direction of travel, speed,
way point data and status (ignition on/off) on standard or hybrid maps. Over
the last few years, with regular EagleTrack product innovations, clients have
seen the commercial benefits grow significantly.
With Australia being one of the first five countries to see
the release of Google Traffic, EagleTrack quickly moved to integrate the tool
into their online tracking maps. Customers using the system can now see
real-time traffic conditions displayed as a colour coded overlay on relevant
roads. The colours indicate the speed of traffic on the road compared to
free-flowing conditions. EagleTrack see clients using this tool on the fly to
avoid job arrival delays across their fleets. As state road authority attention turns to
commercial vehicle speed, EagleTrack has taken steps towards driver management
by providing email alerts on speeding. Surveys showed many operators within
Eagletrack’s target market owned branded company vehicles; furthermore, in most
cases these were the organisations most visible asset. The vehicle tracking
system from EagleTrack now offers a way of rewarding good driving behaviour as
well as staying on top of those who might exceed speeds. This tool provides
managers with timely alerts delivered directly to their inbox.
To celebrate the release of these new features, EagleTrack is not only
offering $100 off the retail price of all GPS tracking units purchased online
but all new clients will be given access to both Google Traffic and Email
Alerts for speeding for FREE for 60 days!
