CA
Technologies Empowers Enterprise Mobility
New
Enterprise-Focused Mobility Solutions Help Grow Business, Improve Employee
Productivity and Automate IT Management
License
Agreement with SAP for Proven SAP Afaria Mobile Device Management Solution Lays
Groundwork for Company’s Mobility Initiatives
LAS VEGAS, April 22, 2013– CA WORLD – CA Technologies
(NASDAQ: CA) today announced new solutions and capabilities to help enterprises
embrace the mobile opportunity with confidence and improve how they connect
with employees and customers. CA Technologies innovative approach to enabling
enterprise mobility goes beyond-the-device to manage and secure the complex
ecosystem that makes up the mobile enterprise.
“Enterprises have cited several key
challenges to embracing mobility: the security of enterprise assets, the
proliferation of heterogeneous devices, the diversity and management of mobile
platforms, and the cost of making applications ‘mobile-ready,’” said Ram Varadarajan,
general manager, New Business Innovation, CA Technologies. “We are helping our
customers address all those challenges and more with a robust set of solutions
to drive the benefits of enterprise mobility including: innovation and business
growth through better customer engagements, improved employee productivity by
enabling BYOD* and secure collaboration, and automated IT management with
mobile-enabled technologies.”
Today’s announcement highlights new
mobility solutions and updates to several existing products that drive CA
Technologies strategy to help customers mobilize their business from every
angle – user, device, data and applications. These capabilities include:
·
Mobile device management (MDM),
mobile application management (MAM), mobile content management (MCM) and mobile
services management
·
Mobile application acceleration;
·
Mobile transformation of existing
technology to support mobility; and
·
“Mobilizing” CA Technologies
enterprise solutions.
“Our customers are looking for us to
provide essential technology solutions to take advantage of the mobile
opportunity. After thoughtful evaluation, we have licensed the proven and
market-leading SAP Afaria mobile device management solution to provide this
capability to our customers and serve as a key component for us to build other
solutions,” Varadarajan said. “We differentiate ourselves from other MDM
vendors with the breadth of our offerings. Our current and future solutions
help IT leaders become the de facto change-agent for their business by
accelerating, transforming and securing enterprise mobility for business
innovation and growth.”
CA Mobile Device Management (CA MDM) – provides the capabilities necessary to secure and manage
mobile users, devices, applications and content (data). Delivered as a
scalable, software-as-a-service model or as an on-premise solution, CA MDM
improves productivity by enabling a BYOD strategy and providing a simple,
intuitive and self-service enterprise app store. It also automates IT
management with real-time insight into mobile device status and usage, along
with automated device enrollment, configuration and decommissioning.
“SAP has had tremendous success
partnering with CA Technologies to help our customers further secure and manage
SAP solutions within the enterprise,” said Sanjay Poonen, president of
Technology Solutions and head of the Mobile Division, SAP. “By choosing SAP
Afaria as a key component of its mobile strategy, CA Technologies is now
equipped with the industry’s leading enterprise mobility management solution,
which will play a critical role in transforming the role of IT management.”
Beyond MDM
The addition of MDM, along with a
strong roadmap of Mobile Content, Application and back-end Services Management
scheduled for delivery later this year, provides CA Technologies with a
comprehensive set of mobility solutions to help customers win in their marketplaces.
·
CA Mobile Application Management (CA
MAM) –helps convert unmanaged mobile applications into managed applications by
embedding security, supportability and control within the applications.
·
CA Mobile Content Management (CA
MCM) – enables secure access and collaboration across mobile devices regardless
of where the content is located – the enterprise or the cloud.
·
CA Mobile Services Management –
drives reliability, availability and security across the mobile infrastructure
for an optimal customer and employee experience as they access enterprise
applications and resources via mobile devices.
CA Technologies is also innovating
in the area of mobile payments. With incubation projects focused on payments
with mobile devices and mobile wallets, CA Technologies is clearing the path
for new, future transactional models to drive business growth.
Mobile Transformation of Current
Solutions
A key differentiator in CA
Technologies solutions for enterprise mobility is the ability to facilitate the
transformational shift in the mobile marketplace that is centered on APIs and
their importance for accelerating mobile application development and delivery,
externalizing core business assets and driving new revenue channels for
business growth.
Through the acquisition of Layer 7
Technologies, announced
today, CA Technologies will offer secure
and efficient Mobile Application Acceleration and access by seamlessly
integrating and managing mobility initiatives across backend systems, security
and infrastructure. By incorporating Layer 7 solutions into its portfolio,
CA will help leverage existing application environments; enable third party
developer networks; and secure and govern API usage.

Italiane). “It’s important for Poste Italiane to offer mobile options to our

CA Technologies Addresses Critical DevOps Challenges to Help IT Accelerate Innovation
2013-04-23T02:37:00Z
ca-technologies-addresses-critical-devops-challenges-to-help-it-accelerate-innovation
LAS VEGAS, April 22, 2013 -- CA WORLD -- CA Technologies
(NASDAQ:CA) today announced it is rapidly expanding its market-leading CA LISA®
solutions to address the most critical challenges in operationalizing DevOps
methodologies, helping customers improve application development and delivery to
accelerate innovation. As part of this initiative, the company announced it
acquired Nolio, bringing continuous delivery capabilities to CA Technologies
service virtualization business. Terms of the transaction were not
disclosed.
“Winning in today’s world of rapid agile development and
complex hybrid infrastructures requires IT organizations to have automated
application delivery processes and tools to deliver innovation to customers with
perfection, and faster than the competition,” said Shridhar Mittal, general
manager, Application Delivery, CA Technologies. “Building on our expertise in
Service Virtualization—through both organic development and a targeted
acquisition—we are driving efficiencies, cost savings and faster release cycles,
and equally important, we are helping our customers achieve a truly optimized
approach to DevOps.”
With the combined application delivery solution, customers
can simplify and streamline application releases, develop and test applications
rapidly, move applications into production automatically with higher quality,
and better ensure continuous application delivery across the software
development lifecycle for improved business and operational agility.
“We are driven to constantly innovate and deliver new
applications to market, and that has aligned us closely with the DevOps
direction of the CA LISA product suite,” said Laura Miller, senior vice
president, Financial Services Application Development, First Data Corporation.
“When we virtualize away constraints and automate manual tasks in the software
lifecycle, collaboration between Development, QA and Operations teams happens at
a new level. We can reliably expect continuous improvement in time-to-market as
well as better reliability of the new services our customers demand.”
Nolio Acquisition
Nolio is a recognized leader in continuous application
delivery with a strong and growing international base of large enterprise and
service provider customers.
Nolio’s solutions help customers:
• Improve business and operational agility by dramatically
cutting release times;
• Simplify, standardize and execute application releases with
better precision;
• Automate application rollbacks for faster recovery and
service continuity; and
• Enable fast, agile and scalable release automation for
cloud and traditional applications. According to a recent 451 Research report*,
“Nolio is growing both its service-provider and enterprise customers, which
bodes well for its future and for the release-automation and devops market.
Nolio’s growth also reinforces the enterprise evolution of devops – the
confluence of application development and deployment via IT operations – and how
more enterprise and service-provider customers are implementing automation,
continuous deployment and devops more broadly after already having successfully
achieved divisional, test and proof-of-concept deployments.”
CA LISA Application Delivery Suite
At CA World 2013, CA Technologies unveiled its expanded CA
LISA Application Delivery suite, which addresses the most critical DevOps
challenges and helps a high velocity application delivery organization to
deliver faster to market, with superior quality and reduced costs. The suite
includes:
CA LISA Service Virtualization: Reduces or eliminates
constraints—or roadblocks—such as limited lab and system availability, and
incomplete software and test data that prevent on-time application delivery—by
modeling dependent systems and services. The latest version now offers mainframe
capabilities, international support, and additional protocols and data
capabilities.
This solution helps customers:
• Improve quality by shifting error identification earlier in
the development cycle;
• Speed time-to-market for updated or new services;
• Lower infrastructure and pay-per-use service costs;
• Reduce demand and contention for physical hardware and
labs; and
• Enable parallel development in a 24/7 available virtual
environment. CA LISA Release Automation: With the Nolio acquisition comes this
new offering that dramatically improves the ability to move application software
efficiently and reliably through the development process and into production
across vastly different IT environments spanning physical, virtual and cloud.
With CA LISA Release Automation, customers can: • Automate
the complex processes and changes required to move code between development,
test and production;
• Improve application quality and reliability by
standardizing release processes;
• Increase the velocity of application release cycles;
• Reduce platform dependency easing migration and
deployment;
• Assure successful deployment and roll-back capability;
and
• Simplify production deployment and capacity planning.
"Thomson Reuters relies on innovative technology platforms to deliver critical
news, information and solutions to our professional customers around the world.
CA LISA Release Automation will assist our technologists and developers to
automate the deployment of some of our key applications, increasing the speed
and efficiency with which we bring new products and offerings to market," said
Charlie Richardson, Head of Development Effectiveness, Thomson Reuters.
CA LISA Pathfinder: Allows IT organizations to better model
real-world environments for development and test using intelligence from both
development and production.
This solution helps customers to: • Eliminate repetitive
testing and validation tasks to allow resources to focus on improving
value-added functionality;
• Capture life-like production-level traffic and performance
metrics in pre-production;
• Allow users to rapidly create and maintain automated
Continuous Integration testing suites;
• Increase regression coverage with robust validation of
business scenarios;
• Reduce the time and cost of defect resolution with
automated defect capture and root-cause issue reporting; and
• Automate application architecture model discovery and
mapping. CA LISA DevCloud Manager: Helps ensure the environments and
infrastructure used in development, test and production are ready for
applications, across physical, virtual and cloud infrastructure.
With CA LISA DevCloud Manager, customers can:
• Reduce manual setup, maintenance and tear-down time, as
well as excess infrastructure costs for complete environments through
automation;
• Eliminate resource conflicts between multiple development
and test teams with near-instantaneous availability of pre-configured lab
environments;

CA Technologies to Acquire Privately-held Layer 7 Technologies
2013-04-22T23:32:00Z
ca-technologies-to-acquire-privately-held-layer-7-technologies
LAS VEGAS and VANCOUVER, British Columbia, April 23, 2013 –
CA WORLD – CA Technologies (NASDAQ:CA) today announced it has signed a
definitive agreement to acquire Layer 7 Technologies, a leading provider of
Application Programming Interface (API) management and security. Terms of the
transaction were not disclosed.
The acquisition of Layer 7 will enable CA Technologies to
manage and secure the API marketplace with leading technology that complements
its current Identity and Access Management suite, including CA SiteMinder®, and
its technologies focused on DevOps including the CA LISA® suite. The combination
of CA Technologies and Layer 7 solutions will help organizations to better
manage and secure APIs and deliver more confidently and quickly the cloud,
mobile and composite applications that run today’s business services.
“The addition of Layer 7 and the synergy across our
technologies will improve how we securely support organizations in their cloud,
mobile and ‘Internet of things’ initiatives,” said Mike Denning, Security
general manager, CA Technologies. “We use APIs every day, whether accessing
flight data from our mobile device, using Google Maps from a hotel website or
making payments online. There are billions of API calls a day and that number is
going to increase with the proliferation of smart devices, ranging from
vehicles, meters, TVs and other devices, as they start interacting over APIs.
Without API security and management, thousands of business services are
vulnerable to disruption.”
Benefitting numerous key stakeholders in an organization –
from developers and IT architects who need to streamline and securely accelerate
the development of new business services, to the line of business and the
C-suite who demand business services deliver a superior customer experience to
help ensure customer retention and growth – the acquisition will enable
organizations to:
* Securely enable strategic cloud, mobile and “Internet of
Things” initiatives through API security and management;
* Accelerate service delivery and increase profitability by
externalizing and monetizing existing application assets that are securely
offered via APIs;
* Expand the network of API developers by offering a
convenient API development platform that provides all the tools necessary to
discover, publish and test APIs;
* Govern API activity in order to enforce SLAs, improve
operational performance and monetize Big Data transactions; and,
* Secure the externalized API business through
authentication, authorization, auditing and threat protection.
“The API-driven economy has exploded, driven by today’s
cloud, mobile and complex composite applications for business services,” said
Paul Rochester, CEO, Layer 7. “With more than 8,000 public APIs available at the
end of 2012, there is a vast library of proprietary components and data exposed
to the external world that need to be managed and secured from unauthorized
access. API applications and services are no longer a trend, they are
mainstream. The combination of CA Technologies and Layer 7 is the best option
for enterprises to successfully and securely leverage all the business benefits
APIs can offer.”
Layer 7’s API management and security capabilities are
delivered both on-premise and from the cloud. The company, founded in 2002, has
offices in the US, Canada and Europe.
About Layer 7 Technologies
Layer 7 Technologies provides API building blocks for the new
open enterprise. Nearly 300 leading enterprises, including some of the world's
largest organizations, rely on Layer 7's award-winning products to open APIs to
partners, developers, mobile apps and cloud services in a secure and scalable

CA Technologies Commits to Carbon Neutral CA World 2013
CA Technologies (NASDAQ: CA) today announced
that its largest global gathering of customers and partners, CA World
2013, will be a carbon neutral event, consistent with the company’s
sustainability commitments.
LAS VEGAS – April 22, 2013 – CA Technologies
(NASDAQ: CA) today announced that its largest global gathering of
customers and partners, CA World 2013, will be a carbon neutral event,
consistent with the company’s sustainability commitments. The user
conference is from April 21 – 24, at the Mandalay Bay Resort &
Casino in Las Vegas.
“Sustainability is integral to our business and we believe it’s
important to lead by example,” explained Cynthia Curtis, chief
sustainability officer, CA Technologies. “Ensuring CA World 2013 is a
carbon neutral event demonstrates to customers, partners and employees
that we are serious about our sustainability commitment. We believe that
sustainability isn’t just the right thing to do -- it’s smart
business.”
The company will calculate the carbon emissions associated with CA World
2013 based on travel, lighting, heat and energy. Then, in partnership
with the Carbonfund.org Foundation, it has selected two projects that
are designed to offset these emissions with mitigation projects that
recapture an equal amount of carbon dioxide or greenhouse gases and
create local jobs.
These projects include: • A landfill methane gas-to-energy project in New York State that will
capture methane (a gas about 23 times more damaging than carbon dioxide)
from landfills and convert it into heat energy for four counties in New
York; and
• A rainforest and biodiversity protection and preservation project in
the Amazon Basin of Acre, Brazil that provides rainforest preservation,
biodiversity and endangered species habitat conservation, and
sustainable economic opportunities and improved water and soil quality
for the local population.
“CA World 2013 is one of the largest events of its kind to fulfill the
commitment to become truly carbon free,” explains Eric Carlson,
president of Carbonfund.org. “CA Technologies donation for our
CarbonFree® event is quite a significant action by a leader in IT
service solutions and a company clearly committed to sustainability in
all aspects of its operations.”

CA Technologies CEO Gregoire Calls on Technology Leaders to Embrace Disruptive Technologies to Drive Business Transformation
2013-04-22T00:45:00Z
ca-technologies-ceo-gregoire-calls-on-technology-leaders-to-embrace-disruptive-technologies-to-drive-business-transformation
LAS VEGAS, April 22, 2013 -- CA WORLD -- In his inaugural CA
World keynote address, Mike Gregoire, chief executive officer of CA
Technologies (NASDAQ: CA), today challenged the 5,000 attendees to embrace
disruptive technologies such as cloud, mobile, social and big data management
analytics to transform business and drive competitive advantage.
“Value is no longer measured by the size of the IT staff,
the computing power (MIPs) under management or the square footage of your data
centers," said Gregoire. "IT’s value today is all about providing the
innovation, speed, insight and security the business needs to gain a
competitive advantage – using resources from both inside and outside your
company. This creates a huge opportunity for CIOs and other IT leaders to act
as a catalyst and enable modern business models and methods – to not only
transform IT, but to transform the business. The question you have to ask
yourself is this: Will I drive the change, or will I be driven by it?”
Boundaries of the Data Center Have
Been Expanded
Gregoire described an IT world where more and more systems,
data and applications exist outside data centers – and outside firewalls,
producing additional challenges and demands.
“First, it raises the stakes for IT management and security
across this vast new landscape,” he said. “They become even more important as
you manage and secure your infrastructure, data, applications, and business
services across your existing environment and private, public and hybrid
clouds. Second, it creates both a challenge and opportunity for CIOs.”
Focus on Enabling Technologies
In his keynote, Gregoire also highlighted CA Technologies
focus on four technology trends that will enable its customers to deliver and
orchestrate IT with greater impact on business: DevOps, Mobility, SaaS
(Software as a Service) and Big Data Analytics Management.
DevOps: The Need for Speed
Gregoire said the communication, integration and
collaboration between software application developers and IT operations
professionals – commonly called DevOps – is vital if companies wish to
transform their business models in order to deliver services to the market
faster.
“The demand for applications today appears to be nearly
insatiable. I ran across a reference recently that says it all -- calling this
new world “The Planet of the Apps,” stated Gregoire. “The benefits of DevOps
are not trivial. We believe our solutions can help you achieve as much as a 30
to 50 percent reduction in time to market … an 80 to 100 percent improvement in
quality …and a 20 to 30 percent reduction in infrastructure costs.”
Gregoire detailed CA Technologies market-leading position in
DevOps because of the company’s service virtualization capabilities, as well as
its acquisition of continuous application delivery resources. These
capabilities, coupled with CA’s Cloud Management solution, enable customers to
get applications in production more quickly, with higher reliability and less
risk.
Mobile Management: Launch of
Comprehensive Solutions to Embrace the Mobile Opportunity
The explosion of mobile devices is a big challenge for IT
organizations, Gregoire said. While business is demanding more mobile
applications to gain anytime access to corporate data, when it comes to the
security of data, what users don’t know, he said, can hurt them. While discrete
products to manage devices are available today, they do not help manage the
content and applications being deployed.
“True enterprise mobility management requires a comprehensive
approach that extends beyond device management to include mobile application,
content and services management,” said Gregoire. “That’s why we’re launching a
comprehensive solution for enterprise mobility management here at CA World, and
extending our existing solutions to support the mobile enterprise.”
Software-as-a-Service: A Technology
Infrastructure and Business Model Shift
Gregoire said CA Technologies will invest in
Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) delivery by product segment, with the ultimate
goal of providing a suite of management and security functions delivered as a
service.
“For most people, SaaS means moving applications to the
public cloud,” he said. “But I have a different point of view. To me, SaaS is
more of a technology infrastructure and a business model shift.
Ultimately, SaaS is a business model that enables us to provide better quality
code faster, deliver continuous innovation, meet your needs more rapidly and
accurately, and help you deliver better business results in a public cloud,
private cloud or behind a customer’s firewall.”
Data Management Analytics: More
Data, More Problems
Massive amounts of data are not helpful without a means to
mine and analyze the information for insight and business value, he said.
“The first challenge is to manage and secure all this data.
The bigger the data, the bigger the challenge for management and security, and
this is our sweet spot,” said Gregoire. “We see a significant
opportunity to use big data to make management and security more intelligent
and to increase the business value we deliver. It’s an emerging area for us,
but one that’s receiving a lot of development focus.”
What’s Next for CA Technologies
Gregoire said the market will see more emphasis from CA
Technologies on organic innovation with a goal of differentiating everything
the company does to deliver even more value to customers. That means innovation
on the mainframe, innovation in distributed computing, and innovation in cloud
management.
Additionally, he focused on the emphasis the company is
putting on ensuring customer success. This includes investments in moving
customers to newer versions of software and delivering “bankable” product
roadmaps.
“Who better than CA to redefine IT management and security
in this new world of cloud, social, mobile and big data and to define new
markets like DevOps?” Gregoire said. “This takes a significant commitment to
innovation and we are committed to this mission.”

CA
Technologies Positioned in Leaders Quadrant of Gartner Magic Quadrant for User
Authentication
SYDNEY, April 15, 2013 – CA Technologies (NASDAQ:
CA) today announced that it has again been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the
Leaders quadrant of the Magic Quadrant for User Authentication*. CA AuthMinder™
and CA
RiskMinder™, the company’s on-premise strong authentication solutions, and CA CloudMinder™
Advanced Authentication, the authentication-as-a-service component of CA
CloudMinder, were evaluated for this report.
In the report “Gartner predicts that, by 2017, more
than 50 percent of enterprises will choose cloud-based services as the delivery
option for new or refreshed user authentication implementations — up from less
than 10 percent today. However, it is likely that on-premises solutions will
persist in the longer term, especially in more risk-averse enterprises that
want to retain full control of identity administration, credentialing and
verification.”
“We are living in a hybrid world when it comes to IT.
Very few, if any, organizations today are using ‘all cloud’ or ‘all
on-premises’ solutions, especially when it comes to security,” said Mike
Denning, senior vice president and general manager, Security business at CA
Technologies. “Our ability to provide identity and access management, advanced
authentication and data protection solutions delivered on premises or
as-a-service is perfectly aligned with this hybrid reality.”
“We are proud to be placed in the Leader’s Quadrant
for user authentication, as well as in three other recent Gartner Magic
Quadrant reports, including the Magic
Quadrant for Identity and Access Governance**; the Magic
Quadrant for User Administration and Provisioning***; and the
Magic Quadrant for Content-Aware Data Loss Prevention****. We are working
to keep these leader positions as we build the security solutions our customers
need, delivered the way they want,” said Denning.

CA Technologies Enables IT to Deliver an Exceptional End-User Experience with Latest Release of CA Capacity Management

ca-technologies-enables-it-to-deliver-an-exceptional-end-user-experience-with-latest-release-of-ca-capacity-management
CA Technologies Enables IT to
Deliver an Exceptional End-User Experience with Latest Release of CA Capacity
Management
Solution Helps Optimize Application
Performance Through Predictive Capacity Planning
SYDNEY, April 11, 2013 – CA Technologies (NASDAQ: CA) today announced a new
release of CA
Capacity Managementthat integrates with CA
Application Performance Management (CA APM) to help enterprises and service
providers ensure an exceptional end-user experience without over-provisioning
IT infrastructure. By leveraging real production data to improve capacity
planning models, the integrated solution enables IT to deliver a right-sized
infrastructure to support business-critical application delivery.
“Today’s IT
organizations are tasked with managing increasingly complex infrastructures
comprised of physical, virtual, cloud and mainframe systems, all of which need
to be optimized to deliver business-critical applications,” said Mike Sargent,
general manager, Service Assurance, CA Technologies. “The predictive
reliability capabilities of CA Capacity Management and CA APM help customers
maintain delivery of a superior and differentiated end-user experience by
allowing them to predict how applications will perform when substantial changes
in the business or IT environment, such as seasonal spikes in
demand, plans for growth, mergers and acquisitions, or a hardware refresh,
are projected.”
CA Capacity
Management helps customers run efficient and cost-effective data centers and
deliver on service level agreements by reliably predicting the infrastructure
needed to support business-critical systems today and into the future. When
used in combination with CA APM, customers can build more accurate models and
run an unlimited number of “what-if” scenarios to understand how applications
will perform under different conditions.
By using
capacity planning models based on real application performance data, IT can
find the right combination of hardware, virtualization and cloud services to
meet the needs of the business while limiting the impact to the bottom line.
This helps mitigate risk because IT can reliably predict that load increases –
whether seasonal or otherwise – will function properly in their environment.
The latest
release of CA Capacity Management helps customers to more reliably predict and
manage application performance by cloning existing workloads in order to create
and reserve capacity for future projected workloads via hypothetical templates,
while still optimizing capacity for current production loads. In addition, the
solution now includes the ability to understand the impacts of workload changes
and the optimal infrastructure configuration to support the application
environment based on those changes.
“To keep up
with the increasing demand for IT services, and deliver an exceptional end-user
experience while keeping within budget constraints, IT organizations must be
able to proactively identify, diagnose and resolve performance problems by
monitoring all transactions. IT also must be able to assess current capacity
requirements while reliably predicting future growth, without having to
overbuild its infrastructure and spend needlessly for hardware and cloud
services that may go unused,” said Torsten Volk, senior analyst, Enterprise
Management Associates. “Technologies, such as application performance
management and capacity management, can help IT organizations reduce risk and
keep a close eye on business-critical application performance while ensuring
that capacity needs are right-sized for today’s needs and future growth.”

CA Technologies Named Value Leader
in Private Cloud Platforms by Leading Analyst Firm
Company Awarded ‘Most Innovative
Architecture’ for its Ability to Flexibly Provision Business Services
SYDNEY, March 27, 2013 – CA Technologies (NASDAQ: CA) today announced that it was
named a Value Leader by Enterprise Management Associates (EMA) in the EMA
Radar™ for Private Cloud Platforms (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS): Q1 2013*. The
company was recognized for offering comprehensive, application-aware private
cloud platforms, CA
Automation Suite for Clouds and CA AppLogic®, as well as integrated cloud
capacity planning and management capabilities via CA Capacity Management. This Radar
report analyzes the marketplace for private cloud technologies from a customer
perspective. EMA reviewed and empirically compared 13 private cloud vendors
with a sizeable number of production deployments. Each vendor was ranked in
terms of “Solution Impact” which focused on features, architecture and
integration, as well as “Resource Efficiency” which included time, effort and
cost.
“CA
Automation Suite for Clouds convincingly ties together CA Technologies core
strengths – server, network and storage automation, service management, and
capacity planning – into a flexible and extensible private cloud platform,”
said Torsten Volk, senior analyst, EMA. “Large CA Technologies customers
confirmed the company’s status as a Value Leader, as the solution offers the
flexibility and extensibility required for even the largest and most complex
cloud deployments.”
CA
Automation Suite for Clouds offers the software tools necessary to deploy
entire business services via CA Server Automation, CA
AppLogic, and multiple public clouds, including Amazon EC2 and Windows Azure.
CA AppLogic
constitutes CA Technologies cloud platform, which is able to rapidly create,
deploy and decommission complex business services. Unlike all other cloud
solutions in this field, CA AppLogic entirely abstracts application
environments from the underlying hardware, making these applications fully
portable and disposable.
Due to the
ability of CA Technologies solutions to flexibly provision business services to
standard servers (CA Server Automation), the CA AppLogic Cloud Grid or the
public cloud, EMA awarded the company “Most Innovative Architecture”.
“EMA’s
recognition of our cloud platforms is testament to their ability to help
customers gain competitive advantage by rapidly delivering services in response
to changing business needs,” said John Michelsen, Chief Technology Officer, CA
Technologies. “We are pleased that ‘flexibility’, ‘ease of deployment’, and
‘overall breadth of functionality’ were the key reasons mentioned by customers
for selecting CA Automation Suite for Clouds and CA AppLogic.”

CA
IAM-as-a-Service Extends On Premise and Cloud Applications Support, and Helps
Organizations Strengthen Customer Relationships
SYDNEY, February 27, 2013 – CA Technologies (NASDAQ: CA)
today announced the next rollout of its CA CloudMinderTM identity and access management
(IAM) service solution. With extended out-of-the-box support for social
identities and additional on-premise and cloud applications such as Microsoft
Office 365TM,
CA CloudMinder helps organizations strengthen customer relationships, while
streamlining how they manage users and their access for greater operational and
cost efficiencies.
CA CloudMinder provides enterprise-grade IAM for both
cloud-based or on-premise applications in a highly scalable multi-tenant IAM
as-a-Service solution. The three components of CA CloudMinder can be deployed
individually or together in a single, integrated IAM service:
CA
CloudMinder Advanced Authentication protects against unapproved and
unauthorized access using multiple forms of strong authentication and risk
analysis to validate a user’s identity.
CA
CloudMinder Identity Management provides user provisioning and
de-provisioning to a broad set of on-premise applications and cloud services as
well as comprehensive user management capabilities. With the ability to operate
and synchronize with existing on-premise identity stores such as Active
Directory or other LDAP-compliant directories, CA
CloudMinder Identity Management leverages existing technologies for
faster deployment.
CA
CloudMinder Single Sign-On (SSO) supports today’s extended and hybrid
enterprise with reliable identity federation in a unified, cloud-based single
sign-on solution. Leveraging CA SiteMinder® technology, CA
CloudMinder Single Sign-On is scalable and controls access for
millions of users from within or outside an organization.
Companies have seen the benefits that IAM as-a-service can
provide. “In one test, CA CloudMinder allowed a team to accomplish in just
three days what had taken almost two months of building, installing,
configuring and testing with an on-premise approach,” said Drew Koenig,
president, CA Security Global User Community. “That company estimated it could
employ CA CloudMinder for a reduced cost and get three IAM capabilities versus
just one plus free up staff time. By not having to work on maintaining the
on-premise infrastructure, the team can focus more on strategic identity initiatives.”
Leveraging CA Technologies leading IAM technology and more
than a decade of experience providing Authentication
as-a-Service, CA CloudMinder provides a single
source of identity and access control across the hybrid enterprise and drives
cost efficiencies through speed of deployment, predictability of expense and
reduced infrastructure and management needs.
“Identity and access management demands are evolving as
organizations employ different ways to save money and grow the business, such
as incorporating cloud services, adopting bring-your-own-device policies and
supporting social identities as a way to get closer to the customer,” said Mike
Denning, general manager, Security business at CA Technologies. “This evolution
and customer demand drove our vision for CA CloudMinder to be able to function
as that single bridge that manages the identities and access for employees,
partners and customers to cloud or on-premise applications no matter what
device or what identity they chose to use.”
New capabilities in CA CloudMinder
include:
Support for Social Identities:
With support for OpenID, OAuth, WS-Fed and SAML, CA CloudMinder provides SSO and
self-registration to vendor sites using Facebook and Google identities, helping
to drive social media marketing campaigns. CA CloudMinder Advanced
Authentication also adds step-up security to the typical user name and password
login. Extending the support of CA CloudMinder to help drive customer
engagement, satisfaction and retention increases the value of IAM to an
organization beyond the traditional demands of security, compliance and
operational efficiencies.
Extended Support for On Premise and
Cloud Applications: CA CloudMinder helps organizations
save money by reducing the time it takes to deploy identity management
capabilities. By adding more than 30 connectors for provisioning, including
support for Office 365, mainframes and other popular enterprise applications,
CA CloudMinder has increased its number of out-of-the-box configurations for
improved deployment time.
Support for IAM Choice:
CA CloudMinder gives customers a choice in how they support their IAM needs on
the operational back end, while streamlining management and administration on
the front end. By connecting to the CA Technologies provisioning, federation
and advanced authentication solutions already in place on-premise, CA
CloudMinder preserves the investment in configuring those solutions as it
unifies IAM administration into the CA CloudMinder interface. This gives
customers a choice: they can use CA CloudMinder IAM as-a-service alone to
manage all on-premise or cloud applications, or they can use a mix of CA
CloudMinder with CA Technologies on-premise IAM solutions – all managed from a
single user interface.
Partner Ecosystem
CA CloudMinder also presents a variety of opportunities for
partners, including hosting the CA CloudMinder service operations in their own
data center and / or managing the IAM administration on behalf of the customer
in its tenant environment. These options enable partners to focus on their
strengths, while leveraging CA Technologies IAM knowledge and experience.
“Efficiently managing identities and their access across the
hybrid enterprise with an eye toward the future is a complex and
resource-intensive challenge for many of the organizations we work with today,”
said Jeremy Britton, a director in Deloitte & Touche LLP’s security &
privacy practice and its CA alliance leader. “This is especially true
with the large number of external users that businesses are now bringing into
their applications. By combining an IAM service that can remove the hardware and
operational burden with Deloitte’s application management offering, which
provides the staff and knowledge to manage IAM administration, organizations
can outsource their IAM function and apply resources to other areas to drive
business growth.”
The latest release of CA CloudMinder is available today.
Pricing starts with a base tenant set-up fee of $10,000 plus $5,000 per
service. Monthly fees are based on the number and types of users (internal
business users or external consumer users).

Adoption of CA Technologies Service Virtualization Solution Grows 50 Percent Worldwide

adoption-of-ca-technologies-service-virtualization-solution-grows-50-percent-worldwide
SYDNEY, February 27, 2013 – CA Technologies (NASDAQ: CA) today announced
accelerating adoption of its CA LISA® Service
Virtualization software, with 24 new customers representing 50 percent
growth in new product sales in the third quarter of FY13 alone.
The
company has achieved a series of key milestones, signing major deals with new
and existing customers worldwide in North America, Latin America, EMEA, Asia
and the ANZ markets.
According
to Dana W. Edwards, CTO, Union Bank, “We are seeing immediate benefit from CA LISA. Lifecycle optimization is a priority for
us and the Service Virtualization features of CA LISA are having a positive
impact. With CA LISA, we are able to realize agile, parallel development
and increase the quality of the products we deliver for our customers. Finding
areas for improvement earlier in the lifecycle is reducing our risk.”
The
widespread adoption of CA LISA is being fueled by the increased pressure on
global brands to deliver applications and services faster than ever. CA LISA
has been shown to accelerate software delivery timelines by as much as 25 to 50
percent, while increasing application quality and decreasing infrastructure
costs.
“We
have been using CA LISA for just over a year and have seen considerable
improvements in both the quality and speed of our software releases,
particularly when those applications must interact with our complex systems,”
said Mike Benson, CIO, DirecTV. “Using CA LISA has been a wonderful experience
for DirecTV, providing us with much more rapid end-to-end application
development and testing, which has significantly reduced delivery times. What
would previously have taken a month or two, now takes as little as a day or
even an hour. As a result, we are also able to quickly and effectively adapt to
the changing needs of the business.”
“Traditional
waterfall software development and 12-18 month release cycles are rapidly
becoming obsolete, as today’s consumers expect IT to deliver flawless
applications and services with far greater agility," said Shridhar Mittal,
general manager, Service Virtualization, CA Technologies. “IT leaders who
understand the complexities of producing applications for composite
environments including Cloud, SaaS, mobile and Big Data recognize this
challenge. These customers increasingly turn to CA LISA to increase the
velocity of their software development life cycle, from design and development,
through integration, performance testing and delivery to production.”
CA
LISA delivers these benefits through service virtualization—capturing and
simulating the behavior, data and performance characteristics of system
dependencies—so that software development and testing teams do not need access
to costly, highly-constrained production environments to do their jobs
effectively.
“To
keep pace with customer and business demands, service virtualization is
emerging as an innovative, valuable, and incredibly powerful solution of the
modern application life cycle. voke research shows that the return on
investment (ROI) of service virtualization is quick and clear. Service
virtualization ROI shows double digit improvements in time to market, reduction
of defects entering production, reduction of overall software cycle times, and
increased test coverage. Service virtualization helps to deliver more
predictable, effective, and efficient business outcomes,” said Theresa
Lanowitz, founder, voke.
CA
Technologies has also seen a more than 150 percent increase in new membership
in its ServiceVirtualization.com
open community over the past six months. To further foster education in this
relatively new IT area, the company also released a study on the Business Benefits of Service Virtualization and
published the book “Service Virtualization:
Reality is Overrated” (CA Press, 2012).
