Journalist Felicity Ripper has joined ABC as a digital journalist and producer at the National’s news digital team.  Prior to joining the ABC, she was with News Corp for more than four years covering news at the Courier Mail and previously at the Sunshine Coast Daily and Burnett Times.  Ripper has also worked as a journalist and communications consultant at Sovereign Home Improvement Group, writing and editing digital articles.  Her other gigs include events coordination assistant at Business Chicks Australia and a property journalist at propertymash.com covering in-depth articles about property developments for an online property development directory.   

Journalist Akula Sharma has commenced a new role as a multimedia journalist in New Zealand media and entertainment.  Prior to that, she was a news reporter at the Gisborne Herald for more than a year covering court and social issues as well as investigative journalism in the Tairāwhiti-East Coast region. Sharma has also worked as a trainee journalist at Te Waha Nui and an intern reporter at Stuff.   

3AW breakfast host Russel Howcroft has re-signed a multi-year deal with the station to continue as co-host with Ross Stevenson on breakfast for four years. The duo have topped 16 consecutive surveys and the show has continued to succeed in 161 consecutive surveys since 2002.   3AW station manager, Stephen Beers, said that the station is delighted to have Howcraft coming back for the long term.  “Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft have kept Melbourne informed and entertained through Melbourne’s hardest times, and together have set new records for listening that are unlikely to ever be surpassed,” Beers said. Breakfast EP and workday announcer Jackson Brunner has signed off on Newcastle 105.3 NewFM as he moves to Los Angeles. On his LinkedIn page, Brunner shared that his departure comes as he is relocating to Los Angeles “to pursue new media opportunities”. “I’ll always be thankful for the opportunities that being on-air in Newcastle has given me, for the people and friends that I have met along the way and for the personal/professional growth that I have gone through whilst in the position.
