Influencing understands that Society began its engagement with Optus in April, with Thrive PR currently wrapping up the final pieces of work for the telco.

Ten extends news bulletin

Ten Network has expanded its weekday news offering with a 30 minute national morning bulletin, 10 News First : Breakfast from 8 am. The 10 News First : Breakfast will provide an update on everyday news at the start of the day, delivering latest breaking news, up-to-date reports on local, national and international stories. Martin White, Head of Broadcast News at 10 News First said that the network’s commitment to news gets stronger with this new venture. “The addition of a new morning news bulletin in 10 News First: Breakfast expands and strengthens 10’s commitment to news across the day,” White said. Channel 10 News aims to provide news updates throughout the day from breakfast at 8 am to 5 pm. The 8 am breakfast launches on Monday, 27 June on 10 and Studio 10 and will follow at the new time of 8.30 am. The program will be presented by Lachlan Kennedy from Monday to Wednesday, and Natasha Exelby on Thursdays and Fridays.
Canberra welcomes SENTrack

Sports Entertainment Network has announced the launch of Canberra’s first ever racing and sport channel SENTrack Canberra 1323 AM, providing non-stop racing and sport content to Canberra listeners. The team includes the likes of Simon O’Donnell, Cam Luke, Campbell Brown and David ‘Taggs’ Taggart providing racing tips, analysis and news. Marina Freri has been promoted to manager of journalism at Radio National. Freri will be responsible for providing editorial support to various teams including RN breakfast, RNdrive, Background briefing and Saturday extra. She has held various positions at the public broadcaster and was most recently an executive producer of RN Breakfast. She has also worked as a freelance TV reporter and correspondent in Italy. Freri will begin her new role on Monday 11th July.
Byron Cooke joins KIIS

Byron Cooke has returned to the airwaves as workday announcer at KIIS 101.1 replacing Ryan Jon who moves away to focus on his podcast Toni and Ryan. The former Fox FM breakfast presenter stepped away from radio in late 2020, to create his own podcast “The Byron Cooke Show” in 2020. “I have loved being back on Melbourne radio with KIIS this year, as the team here really gives me the freedom to put my own spin on the ‘more music’ shift. There is a really positive energy to the station here,” Cooke said. Cooke has been with the station as Saturday announcer since he joined the team earlier this year to keep the chair warm on Jase & Lauren in the Morning show while Jase Hawkins was away on paternity leave. As a television and radio host, he has worked across multiple networks including Network Ten, AFL Victoria, Sydney Swans, Authentic Entertainment, CBS Radio and Seven network. Cooke is on air from 9 am to 3 pm on workdays.

Award winning journalist Pamela Williams is retiring after a decorated career of 30 years at The Australian Financial Review. The six-time Walkley Award Winner and Author has held various roles at the publication, including Editor-at-Large, News Editor, and Foreign Correspondent. Editor-in-chief Michael Stutchbury said that Williams has been one of the masthead’s greatest journalists without formal training or background. “But she brought with her one essential of great investigative journalism: a dogged compulsion to uncover both the essence and minute detail of some of the big industrial, political and business events of her time,” Stutchbury said. Brisbane’s 4KQ breakfast hosts Laurel Edwards, Gary Clare and Mark Hine have signed off the show for the last time after 16 years on-air following SEN’s acquisition of the classic hits station. 4KQ will remain on-air for a week and officially turn off the mics on Thursday, June 30.
