Established in 1961, the School of Information Technologies is the oldest IT school in Australia. Today, the School is a leading institution in ICT research and knowledge discovery which has resulted in numerous patents, licensing of intellectual property and the formation of spin-off companies. The School has a number of world class research groups, categorised into three research labs: the Language and Knowledge Management Research Laboratory; the Networks and Systems Research Laboratory; and the Visual Information Processing Laboratory. In March 2006, the School of Information Technologies will take possession of its new $42 million state-of-the-art building. The facility will include the latest wireless connectivity, a fully converged IP network, cutting-edge research laboratories and world-class teaching and research facilities.
