Clipsal ingenuity wins big with three Good Design Awards

Announcement posted by Schneider Electric Australia 17 Nov 2021

Leading Australian electrical safety and energy solutions innovator, Clipsal by Schneider Electric, has won three Good Design Awards at this year's ceremony.

All three wins were secured within the ‘Product: Hardware and Buildings’ category, with the Clipsal Pro Series, the Iconic Connected Switch 2AX Module, and Clipsal Iconic Outdoor (set to launch in 2022) all recognised among a competitive line-up from around the world.

Each category was judged by a panel of more than 70 designers, engineers, architects, and thought leaders who came together to champion process and system designs that underpin Australian homes, businesses, industries, economies, and lifestyles.

Tim Turrini-Rochford, Asia Pacific Design Director for Schneider Electric, who helped develop all three award-winning solutions said: “It’s an honour to be showcased globally, alongside the very best in design and innovation. To win not only one, but three awards is a testament to the team’s focus on innovation to deliver industry leading products.”

The Clipsal Pro Series is bringing innovation to the commercial wiring device market to meet demand for easy to install technology, robustness, durability, and security. The jury praised the intuitive switch ‘rocker’ skins for their clean, elegant lines with beveled edges.

As a safety measure, a Pro Series skin can only be removed with a tool. It integrates seamless large windows that protect the circuit identification from repetitive cleaning damage, while avoiding unaesthetic screws.

“We invest heavily in research and development to ensure end users and installers have a better overall experience when they choose Clipsal products. ‘Life is On’ everywhere, for everyone. We are determined to empower the customer with smart, energy efficient, and intuitively designed solutions that can be incorporated into their residential or commercial planning,” said Tim Turrini-Rochford.

The 2AX Module was also recognised by the judges at the awards. It is one of the world’s smallest single-piece, connected switch module. From simple timer functions for lights and exhaust fans up to full home automation and scene control, the 2AX Module suits any Iconic wall plate. Making it ultra flexible and scalable, allowing you to grow your smart home your way.

The 2AX Module and Clipsal Pro Series carries the Green Premium label, so customers can be assured they are doing their part to support a sustainable world, Tim added:

“The label indicates that the environmental impact has been assessed through the product life cycle.”

The award follows a number of global accolades for the 2AX Module including Red Dot Design and iF Design Awards this year alone. An impressive feat that sees Clipsal join the likes of Apple with their launch of the iPhone 12. Championed by industry peers, the multiple wins strengthen Clipsal as a leader in the design solutions space.

“Backed by over 100 years of local understanding and global expertise, Clipsal aims to provide customers with an ecosystem of solutions to create innovative, scalable smart homes of the future and dynamic commercial buildings,” said Tim Turrini-Rochford.
