Lucindale breaks ground on eco-friendly Albany Creek community, Riverfront.

Announcement posted by EarthCheck 12 Jan 2022

Ultra-modern luxury homes created with the community and environment as a priority.

12th January 2022 – Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Riverfront (www.riverfrontalbanycreek.com.au) is a terrace home precinct on the junction of Albany Creek and the South Pine River, Moreton Bay, Queensland. As Australia's third-largest Council, the Moreton Bay Region has a reputation for innovation and community centred growth. With catalytic projects such as the Moreton Bay Rail Link (opened in 2016) and the University of the Sunshine Coast's Moreton Bay Campus - Australia's newest greenfield university campus, the destination is one of Australia's fastest-growing regions.

The 8-hectare development is segmented into 3 distinct zones: the residential (containing 39 terrace homes), a recreation hub (resort pool, BBQ & outdoor dining) and a communal green space (nature trails, organic garden, seating areas & river/creek access). The adjoining South Pine River & Albany Creek have significant ecological and State value. A conservation corridor will be created to protect its riparian visitation values.

Brisbane based, Lucindale Holdings, is a community-focused developer that places a strong emphasis on sustainability throughout their planning, design and construction phases. A "whole of systems" approach is undertaken, to ensure that designs are constantly adapted and improved to enhance environmental, social, and economic outcomes.

Riverfront has gained design certification from the internationally recognised EarthCheck Building Planning and Design program. EarthCheck works with luxury brands around the world including Alila, One&Only and Banyan Tree. Their deep science and patented methodology and software platform was created by the Australian Government’s Cooperative Research Centre for Sustainable Tourism (STCRC) over a 10-year period. The STCRC grew to be the largest dedicated tourism research organisation in the world.

“We wanted to integrate innovative sustainable design principles early on in the project in order to develop and maintain positive, productive and sustainable contributions for the intended residents and existing local community.” Said Marcel Russ, Managing Director of Lucindale. “We are committed to the sustainable procurement of local products and services and give preference to natural design elements, where possible.”

“Our design approach acknowledges the uniqueness of the location and its environment and incorporates a number of measures to reduce energy and greenhouse gas emissions; conserve natural resources; and minimise waste generation and pollution, throughout the planning and design of the development.” Continued Mr Russ.

EarthCheck Founder and CEO Stewart Moore noted that places where people want to visit and live - and that are sustainable - do not happen by chance: they are a product of visionary thinking and commitment by industry and community leaders.

“Creating and developing sustainable communities requires collaboration, determination and systematic planning across a development,” Mr Moore says. “Riverfront will join a select group of leading developments across the world that are taking a holistic and strategic approach to sustainable design, placemaking and quality of life.”
