Fibre Optic Cable Clamps: Importance And Types

Announcement posted by Affordable Training 27 Jan 2022

Cable clamps for fiber optic cables are essential for their efficiency and shelf life. In this article, we will discuss the importance of clamps and some cable clamps.

Fiber optic cables are used to transmit data from one place to another at speed. The fiber cable is flexible and runs from the service provider to the service consumer. Here, the wire goes through many paths (aerial, poles, land, and more). A certain tension is necessary for the cable to keep the transmission of the data smooth, and the attenuation level is low.

Importance of Cable Clamps:

  • It makes the installation process much simpler.
  • It helps one to map how to line the cables from the service provider to the receiver.
  • The cable clamps hold the cable in place with the help of supporting hooks or surfaces. It protects the fiber optic cable but also protects others from loose wires.
  • It creates tension in the cable so that the data transmits without disturbance.

Types of Cable Clamps:

Jera has a wide range of clamps for various purposes. They have Drop Cable Clamps, ADSS Clamps, Anchor clamps, and Tension Clamps of different materials and types.

Material used:

The clamps can be differentiated on the bases of the material used in them. Jeva uses different materials mentioned below.

  • UV resistant thermoplastic
  • Galvanized steel
  • Aluminium alloy
  • Stainless steel

Following are a few of the clamps available at Jera:

ADSS Cable Clamps:

These ADSS clamps are used for round cables, for their management.

ADSS anchor clamp:

Aerial ADSS Tension Clamp, PA-3000 (8-12MM) available at Jera

  • It is created for self-supporting cables.
  • The main purpose of ADSS anchor clamp is to create tension in the cable to ensure better transmission of data. Thus, they are also known as tension clamp.
  • These cables have high mechanical strength and corrosion resistance.
  • Tension clamps are made of stainless steel, aluminum, and UV-resistant plastic.

ADSS suspension clamp:

  • It is for ADSS self-supporting cables.
  • It is used to provide direction and support to the ADSS cables.
  • They are designed for aerial suspension and thus are designed with a special anti-drop design to fit in on any type of pole.

Figure 8 cable clamps:

These clamps are used for aerial suspension or Figure 8 cables.

Anchor clamp for Figure 8:

  • Figure 8 Anchor clamps are made of wedges and bail.
  • The Figure 8 cable consists of a messenger in the structure of the cable. These messengers are affected by the material of the wedges.
  • Jera has a wide range of anchor clamps to suit different types of Figure 8 cables.

Suspension clamp for Figure 8:

  • It is designed to suspend the Figure 8 wire without cutting it.
  • They are used to suspend the cable of different diameters and messenger types.

Drop clamps:

  • Drop cable clamps are used for FTTH cable setup.
  • They act as tension clamps as well as supporting clamps for cables used in FTTH connection.

Jera has a huge collection manufactured in their laboratory. Along with cable clamps, they provide products such as Fiber Optic Termination Boxes, Fiber Optic Splice Closure, and dead end grips in their Dead End Guy Grips Factory.
