David Stone CEO of Central Real Capital, the property’s vendor, says “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to buy a unique piece of Bowral’s history plus it’s on the main street of Bowral’s fast growing tourist and shopping centre. Everyone who lives in the Southern Highlands and anyone who visits Bowral knows the enchanting building and all its old-world treasures within.”

Marlene Lynam of CIPS Real Estate in Bowral says “The property has been owned and operated by an Antiques Dealer since 1962 and is now being offered for sale by way of Public Auction, with Vacant Possession. The building has a long life in the commercial history of Bowral. The huge front doors date from its role as a Cobb & Co Coach staging station, when travellers, horses and a blacksmith occupied it. In the 1940's, it was a venue for “Thursday markets” where farmers and other locals brought in their produce for buying and selling. It is purported that there is no building more photographed by tourists, in all of Bowral, partly due to the ivy cloaked frontage. The buildings were constructed as a multi-stage development in the 1950's and 1960's.”

The successful purchaser also receives a complimentary framed cricket bat mounted with a Weetabix card signed by Don Bradman who spent his early years in Bowral. In additon the successful purchaser has the option to buy all the antiques that are in the store including ornate mirrors, historic signage, lamps, candlesticks, end tables, dining room furniture and even the iconic, tall papier mache toy soldier beloved by locals and tourists alike.

The impressive property offering comprises two separate buildings currently joined together and includes warehouse space, a three-bedroom apartment, viewing rooms suitable for retail, as well as heritage features throughout.
