Ricoh Australia Launches Antimicrobial Screen Protector Providing Continuous Protection for MFP Devices
Announcement posted by Ricoh Australia 07 Feb 2022
Sydney, 7 February 2022 – RICOH, a leading provider of workplace technology, has announced the launch of a new and unique accessory available on a majority of the company’s current multi-function printer range.
The antimicrobial screen protector is a protective film featuring antimicrobial and anti-fingerprint properties on its surface. It can be applied on RICOH compatible multi-function printer touch panels, enhancing user safety against certain harmful bacteria.
The protector works by generating silver ions (Ag+) from the sheet surface and connecting with enzymes of bacteria, blocks replication, destroys cells and is also fingerprint resistant. The proportion of bacteria on the surface of the product is 1/100 or less of that on the surface of a non-treated product, and the antimicrobial effect remains after durability tests.
The accessory has been officially certified to ISO 22196 international standards under the Society of Industrial Technology for Antimicrobial Articles (SIAA), an organisation of manufacturers and antimicrobial testing institutions of antimicrobial agents, fungicides, and treated products whose goal is the popularisation of appropriately treated and secure products.
Successful testing on the product was conducted against specific bacteria including Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus with the results showing its effectiveness against these bacteria. At the present time, the product’s effectiveness has not been tested against COVID-19.
Sul Koralege, Assistant Product Manager, Ricoh Australia, said, “Protection and safety are important factors for all office equipment users today and taking robust steps to select and deploy the right equipment now will result in safer workplace practices.
“Providing a safer way to access your office device’s touch panel with the RICOH Antimicrobial Screen protector is another element in providing your employees with a safe return to office in a post-pandemic environment which has forced the need for increased hygiene measures in the workplace.”
