The Renewable Energy Cup? We're Big Fans.

Announcement posted by Renewable Energy Cup 21 Feb 2022

Members of the Renewable Energy Industry have something fun to look forward to. The Renewable Energy Cup Charity Yacht Race is back at Middle Harbour Yacht Club on 18 March 2022. Keen to defend their 2019 winner’s title, the Ratch backed Collector Wind Farm is again on board and will be competing against 36 other crews for the coveted win.

Following the success of the inaugural race in 2019, the Committee has chosen to donate proceeds from this year’s race to the Australian Marine Conservation Society. This organisation is committed to protecting Australia’s beautiful ocean environments, a cause cherished by the nation’s renewable energy industry.

"We are honoured to be the recipients of this year's race proceeds. Global warming is the biggest threat to our oceans and its incredible wildlife, and we are deeply committed to securing climate action. For the sake of our oceans, we need a rapid transition to renewable energy and so it is heartening to sail alongside champions for renewable energy who are proving that doing good for our oceans and climate is good for business," said Darren Kindleysides, AMCS CEO.

Zali Steggall MP, the Member for Warringah, will start the race. Zali is one of the greatest supporters of the Renewable Energy Industry in Federal Parliament and has consistently advocated for action on climate change.

Following the success of the inaugural cup, event sponsorships for 2022 have been a sell-out. Enel Green Power Australia has once again signed on as our Gold Sponsor and the Committee extends its thanks to Enel for being such an enthusiastic and generous supporter of the Cup.

"We are incredibly proud to be the Gold Sponsor of the Renewable Energy Cup for the second year. Sustainability and climate action are at the heart of what we do and has been the centre of our business model for countless years,” said Werther Esposito, Enel Green Power Australia Country Manager. “We wish competitors fair winds and happy racing."

“We’re looking forward to strengthening our relationships with the Australian Marine Conservation Society and Enel Green Power Australia,” said Hamish Wall, founder of the Renewable Energy Cup. “Enel Green Power has been a fantastic partner since our first event in 2019 and we are incredibly grateful for their ongoing support.”

The Committee also extends our gratitude to Silver Sponsors Array Technologies, RBC Capital Markets, Vestas, Lavo, GHD, Neoen and Flow power have come aboard as Silver sponsors. Providence Asset Group, Pinsent Masons, Precision Oxycut and Spark Renewables as Corporate Sponsors and our Bronze sponsors are CPP and Nacap.

The Renewable Energy Cup Yacht Race 2022 will be a fun-filled day of friendly competition between industry colleagues and is a key opportunity to celebrate the success and strength of the Australian Renewable Energy Industry. Let’s hope for 15 Knots of wind and sunshine.

Enel Green Power is the largest private renewable energy company in the world, its Australian operation includes three solar plants with a consolidated capacity of 310MW and further 1.5GW wind and solar under development.
