Farmers Pick bring their weird and wonderful fruit and veggie boxes to Sydney and Adelaide.

Announcement posted by OM Digital 24 Mar 2022

Supporting Aussie farmers and saving over 400 tonnes of fruit and veg from landfills.

Farmers Pick is not your typical start-up company. They’re on a mission to combat the $20 billion food waste catastrophe that is affecting not only our Aussie farmer's hip pockets and their customer's hip pockets too. This is greatly caused by the leading supermarkets turning their noses up at the sometimes oddly shaped,  coloured, or blemished fresh Australian-grown produce.

You can support the change towards saving these guys and creating a positive impact by ordering your fresh delivery of Farmers Pick fruit and veggies boxes in Metro Sydney and Adelaide from the 28th of March, delivering directly to your door starting from a modest $39 with free delivery across metro Sydney and Adelaide, and only $6 delivery for regional. Slashing the price of your weekly food spend by 30%.

How?

Farmers Pick has teamed up with farmers across the country who are in desperate need of a solution to salvage around 25% of their harvested crops that are being wasted due to being rejected by leading supermarkets based on their appearance. The result of this rejection is that millions of tonnes of perfectly imperfect food never leave the farm or are wasted and dumped into landfills.

Farmers Pick has already taken Melbourne and regional Victoria by storm and has increased their business by a whopping 3000% within the past 12 months. Not to mention, the team behind Farmers Pick has saved over 400 tonnes of Aussie-grown fruit and veggies from waste

Now they have their eyes set on Sydney, Greater New South Wales and Adelaide.

Farmers Pick co-founders and former university student classmates, Josh Ball and Josh Brooks-Duncan share a deep passion for the Australian land and people, which drove them to creatively develop the Farmers Pick concept, which was to help bridge the gap between Aussie farmers and Aussie people. They’re dedicated to cutting food waste in Australia by 50% by 2023.

The idea began at the beginning of COVID-19 lockdown in Melbourne on a walk through the supermarket and now co-founders, Josh and Josh are excited to be bringing Farmers Pick to Sydney,

We are so excited to bring you weird and wonderful produce direct from our favourite Aussie farmers. With Melbournians already saving over 400,000 tonnes of produce, we think Sydney and Adelaide can go one better! We hate food waste and the damage it does to our country and our back pocket, which is why we had to do more to save you guys money and these cute veggies from an unfortunate end."

Every Farmers Pick box is filled with fresh, seasonal produce, which varies week-to-week ensuring a good variety in every box, completely revolutionising the way we currently get our five-a-day. Farmers Pick also caters to all living arrangements, from singles to family portion sizes, with Solo boxes from $39 and Family sized boxes from $65.

Each year we waste around 7.3 million tonnes of food – this wastage equates to about 300kg per person or one in five bags of groceries going into the bin weekly from every Aussie household.

Every Farmers Pick box you buy supports farmers and saves fresh produce from landfills. They’re on a mission to make a difference for a better future – what’s not to love!
