6 ways to add value to your home

Announcement posted by Victory Curtains and Blinds 09 May 2022

Whether you’re thinking of putting your home on the market or simply want to future proof your living space, there are many ways to update and add value to your home without spending a fortune.

Stuart Clark, home expert at www.victoryblinds.com.au shares his 6 top decorating tips, to add value to your property.

1. Rethink your window treatments

Switch up your window treatments for a value- adding solution in every room of the house. To create warmth and style, shutters or venetian blinds are a wise choice. If you’d prefer to add a luxe finish, curtains are a timeless choice. For the best of both worlds, layer a crisp, sheer curtain over a roman blind to control the light throughout the whole day.

2. Give your interior a lick of paint

To lift the mood and inject some personality into your home, give your walls a lick of paint. A rainy day is the best kind of day to spruce up your walls and get painting, as it’s not like you’ll be up to much else. Move all of your furniture to the centre of the room and do the first layer in the morning. Leave the first coat for a couple of hours before applying the second just after lunch. You’ll have the whole room painted by the evening if you’re speedy!

3. Take care of your backyard

Transform your backyard outdoor space into its very own exotic hideout by featuring an awning. Pair your awning with some integrated lighting and heating features to keep everyone warm and comfortable late into the evening. For an extra touch, add some hanging string light to frame your outdoor seating area.

4. Revamp your front entrance

Your front door is the gateway to your home and the colour door you choose can reflect your style perfectly for entering guests. You might think a yellow front door is a little out there, but it’s the best colour to promote joy associated with your home. No matter what the season, this bold and sunny shade will brighten your living space… outside in!

5. Clean up your curb appeal

One of the most effective ways to boost your home's curb appeal is to add greenery and make your front space more colourful. Give your front lawn a good mow and water the grass to keep it healthy. Add a variety of colourful plants and flowers to catch the eye of potential buyers.

6. Update your flooring

Cleaning your carpets can make a huge difference to the look of your home, so it might be worth giving them a deep clean if you don’t want to replace your entire flooring. If floorboards are showing too much wear and tear, have them re-sanded for a smoother finish.
