The Aussie battler behind the award-winning ’52+ Things to do in Port Macquarie’ strikes again – with bigger ambitions!

Harness regional tourism with BookitDoit

Mark Ennor is a born and bred, classic Aussie. In his spare time, you’ll find him riding horses out bush or hitting the local pub for a pint. Mark’s passion for the authentic Australia has powered his 20-year fight - in which he founded and operated a multi-award-winning adventure tourism business and created the highly successful tourism marketing initiative ’52+ things to do in Greater Port Macquarie.’

Now, Mark is back – and ready to change Regional Tourism for good. Australians’ thirst for travel has grown rapidly over the last decade, greatly impacting domestic travel - over 90% of total trips remain in the country. The pandemic strengthened this as local spending is up by 30% and is predicted to rise.

The problem? Many local businesses in regional areas miss out on their ‘fair go’ as they can’t afford the high fees and commissions that are associated with current online tourism platforms (mostly overseas-owned). With Australia’s tourism sector contributing $152 billion to our economy, supporting more than 300,000 businesses, and employing more than 660,000 Australians – Mark took action. His next effort would help Australians and international travellers rediscover the real Australia.

Meet BookitDoit – the marketplace and booking platform for regional Australia, aggregating Tours, Attractions, Activities, Itineraries, Accommodation and more from across the country. Find, book and do; explore the real Australia prompts the platform. With a focus on supporting local businesses, BookitDoit gives small regional operators an opportunity to reach the travelling audience. The platform promises drastically lower fees than competitor booking sites and free listings (with the option of a low-cost premium partnership); BookitDoit offers the online visibility these businesses seek.

BookitDoit’s e-commerce platform already has 50,000+ regional experiences to find and book, and currently attracts 4,500 unique visitors per month with an average engagement time of 2.5mins. This traction was achieved via an organic soft launch to operators only.  BookitDoit has an array of partners, including Rezdy, Fareharbour, Tourism Exchange Australia, Australian Tourism Data Warehouse and Southern Cross Austereo for national media campaigns through their radio networks.

In true Aussie-fashion style, BookitDoit is inviting everyone to get involved. Mark’s drive comes from banding Australians together, supporting locals, and making sure no one misses out on an opportunity of a lifetime. BookitDoit has just launched its equity crowdfunding campaign with OnMarket – enabling everyday Australians to own a share of the business and support regional areas and their economies in the process.
