This July for dry July MULL cafe opens with a focus on creating a healthier lifestyle alternative to tobacco and alcohol.
The Amsterdam-styled cafe bar, internally wrapped with Hempcrete, opens today July 8th at 4:20PM, welcoming St Kilda locals, Melburnians and travellers to join the mull-friendly community and experience the cannabis sector in a positive and progressive environment free from alcohol.
The cafe, situated at 78 Acland Street St Kilda, offers non-alcoholic beers, wines and zero-proof spirits, coffee, as well as a range of MULL custom terpene cocktails mimicking the terpene profiles of cannabis strains made from botanicals without the THC. Created by world-leading Mull mixologist and cafe manager, Spencer Hodson - including strains Green Gelato (apple & mint), Critical Kush (orange) and Slurricane (grapefruit).
Mr Hodson has mastered his craft over the last 12 years working in cafes, bars and restaurants such as The Espy and Atlas Dining.
“St Kilda is such a vibrant and lively hub, it’s exciting that we get to contribute to the dynamic and bustling area with a venue that is pushing the boundaries and countering the competitive bar and eatery scene on Acland Street.
In addition to our Australian-first terpene cocktails, at MULL Cafe™ there will be something for everyone. Our ticketed events commencing in September are sure to draw a crowd. These include live VIP club events for medicinal cannabis patients, live comedy, terpene cocktail masterclasses, cannabis dating events for 420-friendly patrons and much more. ” Mr Hodson says.
MULL Cafe is the first of a number of retail divisions of the MULL brand that will launch over the next 12 months throughout Australia, Thailand and the USA. At the forefront of the brand MULL, is Founder and CEO, Gary Mackenzie.
“Our brand is pivotal to cannabis culture, helping bridge the gap in accessibility and education of cannabis and the use of terpenes by fostering a space where like-minded people can gather, learn and share experiences and not be associated with alcohol,” Mr Mackenzie says.
Neil Cartwright, global director for MULL cafe says, “just over 50 years since the world discovered the Australia plant, Mullumbimby Madness, its exciting to launch MULL CafeTM in St Kilda. Our brand is a continuation of a Mull story that occupies an important place in Australian art & culture that originated in the Mullumbimby foothills in the late 60s.”
On a global scale, cannabis use - be it medically or recreationally - has been embraced by many countries and cultures, however, education and accessibility in Australia have been tenuous.
