Netspace ignites consumer broadband market with the launch of new home broadband plans

Announcement posted by Netspace 26 May 2004

National Broadband ISP, Netspace, launched today a range of new, highly competitive Broadband Internet plans aimed squarely at the needs of families, high-end users and gamers.
As part of Netspace?s push to capture a greater share of the home broadband market, Netspace has reduced pricing on many of their new plans and increased the monthly usage allowance across the board, to deliver some of the best value plans currently available on the Australian market.
Netspace has also introduced three new 512 symmetric plans designed specifically for the growing online gaming community, enabling gamers to take their Xbox or PlayStation 2 consoles online with broadband from a low $89.95 for 6GBs. Netspace customers can also access the company?s free PC games servers with traffic not counting to their monthly usage.
Another highlight from the new range includes the release of the new 256 UltraLite plan at a low $39.95 which includes 4Gb of included monthly traffic. This plan represents value for those people connecting to broadband for the first time, or for people looking for a great connection at a low price. For those people looking for speed, the new UltraLite 512 offers fantastic value at $49.95 with 6Gb of included traffic.
Unlike other Broadband providers, Netspace customers do not need to opt for preselection of other services to get the best possible broadband price.
Stuart Marburg, managing director of Netspace said: ?With the growth in online gaming and the explosion of digital media technologies, we see the future of broadband lies in the living room, networking a range of devices to deliver a richer online experience for users. Essential to the growth of this market is affordable broadband connectivity with realistic usage allowances and a high performing connection.?
?For anybody who may have been recently thinking about installing broadband in their home, now is the time. The new plans represent excellent broadband value for families, gamers and high-end users and demonstrates Netspace's commitment to make broadband simple, fair and accessible for all Australians to enjoy,? said Mr Marburg.
Netspace?s New Consumer Broadband Plans
The new broadband range offers flat rate pricing on all plans (excluding Starter 256) by not charging excess usage fees. Instead, Netspace speed throttles broadband services if customers exceed their limits. At any time in the month, customers can un-shape their broadband connection by buying ?data blocks? at very affordable rates. Netspace's entry-level plan, Starter 256 is priced capped, so if a customer exceeds 300Mbs monthly usage, the most they will ever pay in excess usage in one month is $49.95. Excess usage is charged at 15c/Mb.
Added features of all Home broadband plans include:
- Free traffic sites, including gaming sites (not available on ?Starter 256?)
- 10 email addresses and 10Mb web space
- Free Rapid Transfer (not available on ?Starter 256?)
- Netspace Red 4-Port Ethernet USB modem that enables home networking is available as standard issue. Wireless option for modem connection also available
